Just a question to the paint & panel guru's here....Clay bars.....My daughter's Mazda was recently repaired, and when I went to pick it up I noticed there was fine overspray over the rear bootlid... felt rough to the touch. They got stuck into it with a clay bar, and within about 10 minutes, the entire bootlid panel surfaces were as smooth as a baby's bum. And nice and shiny too.I've personally never used a clay bar before. Can't say I've seen them for sale at typical car parts/accesories outlets.... but then again, I've never looked for them.Is it an alternative method for polishing a car, or is it a preparation procedure prior to polishing? What's the good oil? Are they good? and how is a clay bar best used?tom Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/27162-i-want-to-use-a-cut-polish/#findComment-412078 Share on other sites

It basically glides along on a very thin film of water which u spray on (ie meguiars quik detailer) and rubbing the clay bar around collects everything not attached to the clear coat. You would then apply a good polish and wax to the completely clean surface of the car. Definitely worth doing every 6 months or so IMO Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/27162-i-want-to-use-a-cut-polish/#findComment-412090 Share on other sites
