**** UPDATE ****

My car has now done about 3000kms since the handbreak fix. Over the last week I have noticed that the schh schh noise has returned and it is a lot worse then before the fix!

I'll ask the service rep about it when I take my car back today to get the repeated diff leak fixed, which had already been fixed 3000km ago too!

:tease: Fords!

This is more for those who's warranty has expired (like mine).

I was excited to read this thread to find that a fix had been developed, so I immediately rang my local service dept to see if mine could be replaced - not too keen on having my car roll backwards down hills anymore!!!

The service manager explanined there was a TSB for the handbrake, and as my warranty was expired it may cost me approx $300.

In short I wasn't happy, he advised me to ring Ford Customer Relations Centre (133 673) and see what they could do.

I explained how this was a common problem, my car had handbrake problems since new, and if Ford has gotten around to finding a solution to this problem any sooner than 4 years after the car's release then my car would've had this fixed in it's warranty period.

After MANY phone calls to them and from them, they decided that they would foot the bill for it's replacement! Yay, a victory for the people. :pinch:

Had it replaced yesterday, and have tested it on some steep hils, and it holds. No audible shooshing - yet.

Will post again if anything changes.

So don't settle if your car is out of warranty, this fix has been a long time coming, as have a few other things.

mate I would love to know what dealership you took it to - just to save a few arguments with my local guy.
