Hello,

Due to the friendly tax God I have decided after another post to get the 27mm whiteline front sway bar (http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=26406&hl=).

While I do this mod I would also like to get either whitline spring or kingsprings. Two questions though:

1. Whileline or sl/ssl kingsprings what are the price, ride height and performance differnce?

2. Do I need shocks. I was told when I was going to get kingsprings put on that I need to buy shocks of him also or the car will ride crap. Opinions please?

Help much apreciated. Thanks.

Can't speak for the Whiteline stuff (although I've heard they're a very good product) but I do know that you certainly DON'T need new shocks with the King Springs setup (and I suspect the same would hold true for the Whiteline springs). I'm running King Springs SL/SSL front/rear, as a lot of other members are, with no problems re ride. Sure, it's a little firmer, but definitely not harsh and perfectly acceptable to my fussy wife.

I was also lucky in that I didn't need a camber/castor kit for the front to get a proper wheel alignment, although I understand that this varies from car to car and some have needed this fitted as well. :pinch:

Shocks would obviously help the car handle even better, but they can be quite pricey compared to the springs and it all depends what you're aiming for, how much you want to spend, etc. Hope this helps.

if u pay more than $140 per pair of springs your paying to much.

you wont need shocks unless really slamming it to the weeds.

definately get a wheel alignment after lowered to see if u need a camber kit. my front end was WAY OUT when I lowered it. had to fit a k-mac kit.

try to get the whiteline over king.. whiteline are 10/10 products.

Yeh I still have you old PM Graham. You have KFFL-57 on front and KFRL-68SSL on rear. And thanks for letting me know about the bump stops as well! How much has it lowered you car by? 3cm or more?

Anyone else on the whitline stuff or shocker opinions?

when I was in the market for springs, I picked mine up tonight, I found out the king spring do a lowered spring for the falcon and also a lower spring with a hevier spring rate for performance applications, which is also more $$$. So check out the web page for king I think that they have listed the product on there and have a look into it if your keen on serious handling

Oh yeah, I forgot about that! I didn't take before and after measurements, but I reckon the front's dropped by about 2-3cm and the rear by about 5-6cm. Some people like a REALLY low look, but for me this is as much as I would want to lower the T before I thought it looked too ricey.

Hi all,

Replacing OEM shocks with performance ones is "best -practice" when fitting uprated springs. In the short term the OEM ones will probably doa decent job, but thees extra workload they are put under by the stiffer, and lower springs will see them wear out faster. It all probably depends on how long you are plannig on keeping the car.

Cheers

not to mention that when putting lowered springs in with such a long shock, on wierd arse funny angle steep drive ways ect the rear springs can acutally fall out of place.
