Paint & Fabric Protection

Hi all,

Not sure if this is the right spot for this but here goes.

I'm starting to think of paint & fabric protection for the new beast and was just wondering what peeps are using and where they're getting it from, what price to expect etc? Same deal for window tint if anyone can recommend someone they were happy with? (in Perth)

Didn't really fancy getting bent over by the dealership with their ludicrous prices for protection packs so after somewhere that specialises in this kind of stuff.

On that note has anyone used the products from the below link and have any opinions as to whether good, bad etc?

For fabric protection, just pick up some scotchguard from coles or somewhere. About $10 a can and does the trick. Just apply it every 6 months or so. Damn site cheaper than anything teh dealer offers and doesn't take long to do.

I just used AmazingGlaze on my Phoon, Its a good days work though and have used it on all my cars great stuff, its about $80 including the aplication kit and there is enough to do two cars.

It's from the AG group, Just google for it think there up near the airport.

I have a mate who does window tinting and will look after you - hes done a fair few of the members (muzza420, xxxr6t etc) cars here and has done all mine, my family and all my mates cars for the past 10 years.. definitely recommend him over TintaCar or TKO tinting etc!!

I didnt opt for paint protection cause dealers prices are a total joke!!!!!

Instead I just high quality paint prep and polishes like Zaino, Pinnacle and P21S etc.. and ive found these to be perfect.. not sure about fabric protection but scotchguard or similar should do the trick..

Meguirs NTX isn't exactly what your after but it does offer some protection..

I use Autoglym sealant (about $30 a bottle). Leave on for an hour and when dry rub off with soft cloth. Absolutely perfect (but admittedly it's a bit of work, not particularly easy to rub off like other polishes/waxes). Lasts about 5-6 months. A few friends have been ripped off with $1000 paint protection when they've bought new cars and after one year there's none left on the paint - dry as a bone. Also, you have to use their car wash products. If there really is a paint protection product that lasts for 5 years I'd like to know about it!

I would do a google on scotchguard first not a real safe product up to you

Thanks, the tinters details would be good. Wouldn't mind seeing some pics of the finished result too if you or any of the guys that have had it done have any?

General consensus seems to be don't bother with commercial paint protection, is there ANYONE that has used it and finds it worthwhile? Currently I'm leaning towards just picking up a bunch of products from the following link:

This is the first car I've owned from new and I want to make sure I get it right from the start.

Just finished applying a product from paintprotection.com.au, also known as Glare paint protection. It is a good days work but the results are amazing, fills minor scratches buff marks etc etc. They claim it will last 5 years, time will tell but looks a treat.

I got the pre delivery detailer to use Glare on my car instead of the normal polish.

It still looks great after the past 7 months outside 24/7.

Make sure you wash the car with the glare wash.

My painwork has no swirls or scratches and it washes itself when it rains.
