How much did it cost and what power is it handling. Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/27045-rebuilding-an-auto/ Share on other sites

I upgraded the tune using Edit, gained a bit in peak (315 rwkw) but substantially increased the power at the lower end. This results in a big increase in torque! To give some specifics on my daily 98 Ron tunes..... .............. Previous ............ current .... rpm ....... Unichip tune ......... EDIT TUNE (HP-F) .......... 3000 ...... 160 kW/510Nm ..... 230kW / 730 Nm 4000 ...... 230 kW/550Nm ..... 265kW / 630 Nm 5500 ...... 300 kW/520Nm ..... 300kW / 520 NmThe trans worked well with those power / torque outputs. I recently retuned at the big vic weekend 2, and requested a race tune using some additional octane booster..... Power and torque increases were phenomenal.. rpm ....... RACE TUNE (HP-F) .......... 3000 ...... 260kW / 825 Nm 4000 ...... 290kW / 690 Nm 5500 ...... 315kW / 550 NmNot much increase in peak power, but HUGE increase in low-mid range torque! The car accellerated like a bat out of hell.... awesome. But my 2~4 band failed. Totally wore the kevlar off the band, and ended up wearing into the drum. As there is a fair bit of electronic trickery in the ECU control of the box, there are some parameters the tuners can play with. But the tradeoff is driveability. To get the band gripping tighter, which is necessary to reduce slippage with huge torque increase, results in quite a drastic gear shudder when engaged. This also causes more stress throughout the rest of the drivetrain. From my experience, I would say the torque rating of the modified boxes is about 700 to 750 Nm, and even then they will require maintenance on a regular basis.I'd like to hear from guys running big power at low rpm, with stallies, who have NOT experienced problems in their autos.... ( lets say >250 rwkw at 3000 rpm)maybe there's another trick available.(lets exclude the 3sp C4/C9 installs)tom Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/27045-rebuilding-an-auto/#findComment-409995 Share on other sites

No idea what power/torque it can handle, suggest you contact Nizpro or Yarra Valley Automatics for more details.
