Add to that we have our own refineries. So why are we paying so much for fuel. We are also burning off so much natural gas, whatever you think of LPG systems in vehicles, when LPG was 14 c a litre then there was a market and development money, now the government has taxed it so the development money is not there, it is not that viable. An absolute bloody waste and a disgrace.Scotty←However we can still afford to ship it to China for 2c a litre... f*ck this government Lumpy

An example is the BP servo at Padstow, NSW. It has ultimate at 15c more than ULP and their ULP has been 2c dearer than the Shell next door ever since they installed a Subway on the premises. That owner is just greedy.

Fat-Tony Member 5,364 Member For: 18y 11m 9d Posted 19/07/06 03:41 AM Share Posted 19/07/06 03:41 AM the state government is still gettting atleast 8 cents per litre more, than they should be. Extra money collected from now due to the fact that GST is 10 percent of the cost. Now If every state government put there hand up as the QLD government has and droped 8 cents a litre of the GST collected on petrol wouldnt that make evey1 happier. I agree the federal government has way more room to move with the prices. But its the state governments that are collecting OUR money that they shouldnt be. Putting pressure on the government to put pressure on the fuel companies would be a better solution. As we have oil we have refineries, fuel should be cheaper. I have just been in the middle east and fuel there is CHEAP, so why is it not here. Maybe some economics guru can help out.Another thing Fats, when oil and gas run out, that is not the demise of the big oil companies, as they have been buying up patents for years on alternate energies. There could be cars that are so much more economical with technologies that the big oil companies are siting on.Large companies are in it for the money and who can blame them, for whatever reason though the politicians know that they little people are hurting and are not doing anything to help them ( this relates to fuel prices).Scotty

BP owns more advanced solar technology than anyone else under the sun. It's all fully developed but isn't and wont be in production for a long time, as all these resource companies have holdings in all other kinds of resource companies (Coal for example)Alot of solar technology has been developed right here in Australia but has been forced to be sold offshore and into unsympathetic private hands by the lack of government funding.Lumpy

I remember watching a documentry on America wanting to mine in Antartica (that is the land mass pole is it not), for more oils and coal. Which is an absolute enviormental nightmare and shows the laziness to force the hand of oil companies. If you can afford shares, then at least you to could make some money.Scotty
