Well I use Mobile 5w/50 super syn.

It gets changed every 7.5k and it's still got a gold tinge to it.

And Trough, take a pill I was :fool::spoton: you.

If the recommended hot rating is 40 I wouldn't be using anything less.

I agree on std power terms, but when more boost and higher power figures are achieved then circumstances would change.

best bet would be to ask your tuner what they would reccomend.

I agree...

With more power comes more stress and heat.

So that's just another reason to use at least the recommended hot rating oil.

At the HPF dyno day the prizes were Castrol 0W-40 oil.

I also noticed they had a bulk tank of Castrol FMX 15W-40 (semi-synthetic), I would of thought they were using that for the XR6T's.

that's what was put in my car last service the FMX sh*te and 7000k's later, it was as black as the ace of spades, and stunk like sh*t.

The best stuff I have used, IMO ofcourse, is Motul, but it's a b**ch to get the good stuff here in Bendigonia.

On the surface then that would appear great. Motul is the oil to use. But I have a couple of questions.

Is the purpose of oil to trap and contain contaminants, hence it turns black and when you change it it takes all the contaminants away.

If one oil turns black and stinks after 7500km and another oil still has a golden tinge to it, in the same car with on average the same driving does that make it a BETTER OIL?

Of course if one of the oils was complete and utther sh*t then it may burn, and that would explain the difference.

If this was not the case then why is one oil turning black and another all golden?

Just an observation, I am not an expert nor do I claim to even have a clue.

:spoton::pooh:

Now your getting to deep and meaningful.

I reckon it's burnt, that's what sh*t oil does. I can only go on experience, but that will be the last time I use FMX in my car, as Troughy says, if ya love it, show it.

By the way can someone please tell me how to quote from several posts.

Scotty

I can do that.

Copy the comments you want from each post.

Then add the quote tags around them, (quote) & (/quote).

Just remember to use the square edged brackets, I've used the () instead of the [] so the forum doesn't think I'm trying to quote something.

If you want to have the poster details, date and time I do it using another method but it's a bit hard to explain in a post.

It's piss easy Scott, see the quote+ tab next to quote, just hit it and any other

reply you want to use and then hit reply, and all your quotes will be there and post underneath.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll leave the oil in for now (it cost me enough) and think about what I'll use next time (maybe the 10 - 30/40?). However, someone once told me that you shouldn't keep changing the type of oil so now that 5-30 is in it I should continue this viscosity). Honestly, I think I need a degree in chemistry or mechanical engineering to understand all this oil controversy. If Ford recommended a fully synthetic oil, say 0-40 from the start, then there wouldn't be so much confusion (for me anyway!)
