Congrats on the purchase. Colour??? Options???

On a side not has anybody tested there ZF auto phoon 0-100 time on G-TECH or something similar? If so what was the time?

BTW, on the 0-100 times Autocar in NZ (yep, I'm a kiwi) did a comparison on four hot sedans representing Japan, US, Europe and Australia. The Typhoon was their pick as representative for Australia (Subaru WRX STI, Chrysler 300C SRT8 and Audi RS4 being the others). They managed to get 5.35s 0-100 and 2.94s 80-120 times out of their auto BF Typhoon test car.

What were the 0-100 times for the other three?

I've got a DPIC gauge in my XR6T, M6. Best 0-100 I've managed is 5.6s.

Mate, if you enjoy driving, stick with the manual. I'm yet to drive the 6sp auto, but it can't give you the same satisfaction as a manual, I don't care what anyone says. I had a 4sp auto XR6T previously. I'll never buy an auto again now I'm back in a manual.

But if those couple of tenths are important to you down the quarter, go the auto.

Think of the auto like a 6 speed sequential manual gearbox. About the only thing it doesn't do is blip the throttle on downshift. Other than that, the manual has no advantage over the auto.

I changed from a XR6T 6-speed manual to the BF F6 auto, and don't miss the manual a bit after 6 odd weeks of driving the F6.

ok, I had car in performode and flick up to second it should say 2nd on the dash where the revs are. Next start stalling to 1900-2000 on street and about 1900-2100 at the track, as the light changes flick the auto back in 1st, and you will see the extra revs jump when you put it back into first.

that's another good thing about these new 6 spped auto gearbox's lets you stall 2nd, but if you hold it to long the torque converter kicks in stops you from stall it (heat) you have to wait abit that's all.

Hey, I have a Gtech pro SS (last year model) but a 6 spd MANUAL F6. I will not be posting any times. But it does 0-100 in anywhere between 5.2 to 5.4 secs, without a burnout and with rear tyre pressures at 38psi (20 degrees). Exactly how I drive on the street daily.. My best 60' (20m) time is a 2.386 sec so this gives an idea of how well they grip using this setup. Im sure the 6spd auto will be much quicker, I havnt driven a phoon with one yet, but I drove a new TT (Turb territory) Ghia the other day as my cuz is prob gettin one, and gave it nothing but praise, I think I would miss a clutch too much though so I would still go manual but is totally personal choice.

4.62 for the RS4, 4.60 for the Impreza STI, 5.79 for the 300C SRT8.

80-120 the Typhoon came 2nd after the Impreza (2.63), beating the RS4 (3.00).

I know what you mean. Two pedals controlling both clutch and throttle gives you more control than just one throttle pedal. Nothing can change that... but from the test driving I have been doing the 6sp Auto is a completely different beast from the old 4sp Auto. It is ALMOST as fun... while apparently also being quicker in pretty much any situation.

Hence the dilemma! :spoton:

I also moved from a XR6T 5speed manual to the BF ZF and I could not be happier.

I have had over 20 manual cars and only 3 auto's and this car is like no Auto I have driven. 99.9% I just stick in in pref auto and drive, but the semi auto is handy in heavy traffic.

As for launching it, I tried several ways and the best by far was stick it in perf and stall it up to about 1800rpm and then go for it.

I did 7 runs all between 13.2 and 13.4, all had less than a 2.1 60' time and this was with normal pressured SP9000 stock tyres. I did not do much of a burnout, traction was not a problem.

My car is completly stock with pump 98 RON BP ultimate.

I say drive a ZF and you will not look back, they are so suited to the turbos.
