I plan on gettin one eventually prob in the new year, wont be doin the battery pipe before the tune but for the time being just the cooler, I have put it on to help with summer heat temps being so high and the pissy lil cooling bein useless.

Why would it be trouble if I dont get a retune, I ve researched it a fair bit there are a few people running coolers without tunes, the super restrictive standard piping means no real change in boost pressure that wouldnt be seen on a cold night in a standard car, cant really see the problem at all, gauge didnt change in pressure in a few diff gears with different levels of acceleration with the change of puttin in the cooler.

what have others experienced doin this mod.

Ill keep an eye on boost pressure cant see it being a problem until it begins to get a bit cooler like around feb next year. then will need to be done as it will spike in the cold hence boost cut and crap which will be annoying.

Im not sure it can throw a rod when the computer backs everythin off it stops anything that isnt normal. I havent experienced anything yet, drives smoother then it did, very nice and pokey but its probly just my imagination.

If it boost spikes it would just send it into boost cut and that, I havent modified any piping only the cooler, cant really see how that would make any difference in tune until it gets colder end of summer in reality, the benefit would only be minimal only reason I have done this is to keep it a bit cooler on hot days I dont thrash it as it is so I doubt ill ever see it boost spike hahahaha. Not like I have whacked anymore power into it. coolers dont give KWs they make it more reliable to increase boost so u can chase KWs

just my opinion though, I have heard stories of some cars, just cant see how putting on a cooler will increase anything but cooling air.

Tom what would your worry be with puttin it on without a tune, im just curious mate..

for 1 it would be kind of pointless with out a tune as you can gain extra KW with better cooling

and 2 cooler air with the bigger cooler could = more boost which could mean more power which could could ping

Yeh I understand no power benefit im just tryin to get the car to run a bit cooler, these cars already run so frigen hot under there could cook a roast, so a bit of cooler air cant be a bad thing for it.

I dont think its quiet cold enough yet to get boost spike, and I think u find boost spike is more prevelent on no electronic boost controlers, thes are still controlled by the ecu, all the times I tested in both 5 in the morning after work and also late at night, during the heat it seems to run where it was before boost wise, so no real spike atm. I can though see it being a problem coming into colder air, like early autum when the nights get down to single figures it will play a big role.

the pinging thing I dont think it can, the computer would retard at the first sign of ping as it is setup as safety net in stock falcons so that people cant ping them to much if at all.

fingers crossed I have no problems with it, I plan to get justin to do a tune an that on it when I get the tuner an save up for a flash.
