Herrod CAT BACK SYSTEMS

Before I start yes I have searched :). I am shortly about to do a few alterations to my exhaust set up. I have researched numerous products, metalcat, ballistic cat etc but I have not found any information / opinions on these Herrod producst –

“Herrod Exhaust Packages developed on our in house Dyno Dynamics Chassis dyno to Increase your car's power (on Average 8 kW at the rear wheels), deliver a sportier note, and improve fuel economy, without compromising ground clearance and fitment. Herrods Full flow design uses large diameter sports mufflers and ultra-smooth mandrel bends on all pipes, and are direct factory replacements meaning no cutting, welding or chassis modifications as required by other systems. Combined, these features ensure maximum flow, torque, power and fuel economy, delivering the best all round solution to your performance exhaust needs.”

Or even the twin cat engine pipe

The great thing with the above is they are all ADR compliant.

The setup I wish to run is valve springs, bosch injectors and custom tune plus the usual K&N products plus a thermostat. Would the Herrod cat back system be the way to go? Or would I best follow a different alternative.

I care about quality and reliability so price is not a major issue.

Cheers.

the twin cat herrod set up is no good imo from flow tests and dyno tests ive done

you could alot better for flow and power.

herrod exhausts are actually a hi-tech exhaust, so if your in nsw might be easier/cheaper for you to go to them, but I cant see anything wrong with their cat back systems, they are defnitaly an improvement over stock, but depends on what power levels you are chaseing. According to nizpro exhausts dont do much at any thing under 300rwkw, though the system is also EPA legal noise wise so that's a +

I have one of those systems here also, It came of a BF F6 typhoon auto, It made no difference in power compared to the stock exhaust when tested on this car so I cant see the benifit in changing it unless you where just after a better note from the exhaust

We use Herrod's Exhaust Systems in all stages of our Performanec Kits and have had great success.

The basics to any performance tuning is to help the engine breathe better and we achieve that using Herrod's Systems.

The standard exhaust is quite good, but we found Herrod's Systems to be a definite improvement in flow and provided a great exhaust note.

can you give us a dyno sheet and some figures of this definate improvement and flow figures of the better breathing?

herrod claim that the exhaust should be done on the car when boosted from stock, im a little sceptical as to the worthiness of doing it. they claim its ment to allow them to be able to ramp it up quicker (watever that means).

It might actually do something, but I feel 1300 dollars could be better spent on an edit, and if you already have one, injectors and valve springs. Nizpro also claim there is little improvement by changing the stock exhaust under 300rwkw and even with their stage 2 kit make 330rwkw with the stock exhaust.

Go's to show that there are other restrictions on the car which need attention before the exhaust should be considered, if your keeping to a budget.

you are right tony, look at it like this

Stock cat and dump flow 300 cfm

Stock exhaust flows 570 cfm.

WHats the restriction?

SMB dump and Magic 5 inch cat flows 998 cfm

Herrod dump and cats flows 578 cfm... pretty much same as the STOCK exhaust
