Guys - I was taking couple of my mates from work to demo the EDIT on my T. At about 3500rpm - 80k's - sports mode I could hear a strange crackling noise from the engine most probably the top section for a few seconds. Never heard such noise before ever.

Obviously I took it a bit easy after that. But am concern as what was THAT noise.

Any ideas?

I was hoping you were not going to say the 4 letter word.....

PING :spoton:

The fuel I use is BP Ultimate and have used it all along.

Do I need to change the fuel.

I wouldnt think you would have to change the fuel. if the edit is tuned for 98 octane then I would think it would be good for all 98 octane fuel (I use caltex 98). you could try the shell 100, but other than that the edit will have to be re-tuned (or custom tuned if you havent done) so you can be safe on 98 octane.

if your in sydney, I went to c&v and they gave me a 98 tune, 95 tune & valet tune.

EDIT is with the custom tune done by Intune Motorsport tuned for 98RON.

I guess advice and subsequent fix from another Tuner could be an option.

The 45k service due as well, probably need to find another tuner/service shop around south sydney area.

sounds like pinging to me, more load (mates) cool nights etc can bring it on, but sounds like a ping to me.

Custom or Generic tune, standard or moded car? details please.

I was too slow to post response, ignore the above.

try United boost 98 ethanol, it works well in my car, or use the caltex, it is the pick of the 98octane non ethanol fuels.
