If you stick with Ford service oil (they use castrol 15w40 mineral crud) and had 15K oil change intervals then I wouldn't be surprised why the turbo bearings have gone. You're gambling with 15K service intervals with any car, let alone a turbo.
Iconic Bionic My engine bay is Bionic Donating Members 3,726 Member For: 18y 8m 1d Gender: Male Location: Freeways Posted 06/07/06 10:26 AM Share Posted 06/07/06 10:26 AM Our biggest fear is a blown turbo. Just like everything else, they need to be looked after. Still in warranty?? Or just out, being a Mk1.

Engine had done 78000k's and was virtually like new inside. And I have heard of others as well I am running Castrol 10W60 fully synthetic, and will continue to do so, as the oil in these turbos obviously see some severe temperatures.
