Alsa make sure the fermenter is sealed properly.Did you sterilise everything that touched the brew???ie fermenter, spoons etc.I use a keg system & anyone who hangs shiit on Homebrew has obviously got shiit taste !A good homebrew is a mile better than commercial brew & in fact after you start drinking good home brew the commercial stuff is rubbish with additives. If anyone would like to beg the differ, the offer is there to come around for a jug or 2!Russ

Because lager yeast ferments at a lower temp, you don't get a very vigorous action. I brewed a lager that took nearly 8 weeks to ferment out because the temp was about 10 degrees.Patience is a virtue And it make better beer too! I might check it with the hydrometer and see if its changed much.I might increase the temp just to kick fermentation off and then lower it to 12deg once the airlock starts bubblingdid the airlock bubble much with your brew?? mine hasn't even bubbled once yet! Increasing the temperature might work, but I'd be wary of doing that. I don't use an airlock, I just cover the fermenter with a clean tea towel. The CO2 generated by the brew displaces the oxygen, and the tea towel stops nasties from getting in there

I use the keg system it takes 13 days start to finish. It costs a little more for the set up but it is sooo worth it,no cleaning bottles just sterilize the kegs and away you go! I had a problem in the winter months with fermentation because it is so cold, now I wrap an electric blanket around the keg and it is fine.
