yeah, that's why I started up again mate.. needed a hobby other then spending money on the T :spoton: I've got 3 barrels sitting and waiting for me to see how this brew goes.. then I might start up 3 brews!!

or I might just buy a bigger 50L fermenter... plus my other 3 lol :spoton: that'll be over 100L of beer every few weeks... I won't be able to drive the T the way I'm going :gooff:

I'd be a bit concerned about the yeast. Alsa make sure the fermenter is sealed properly.

Did you sterilise everything that touched the brew???

ie fermenter, spoons etc.

I use a keg system & anyone who hangs shiit on Homebrew has obviously got shiit taste !

A good homebrew is a mile better than commercial brew & in fact after you start drinking good home brew the commercial stuff is rubbish with additives.

If anyone would like to beg the differ, the offer is there to come around for a jug or 2!

Whatever you do, don't increase the temp for a lager yeast, you'll end up with nasty beer. Because lager yeast ferments at a lower temp, you don't get a very vigorous action. I brewed a lager that took nearly 8 weeks to ferment out because the temp was about 10 degrees.

Patience is a virtue ;) And it make better beer too!

8 weeks?? really? was that 8 weeks in the fermenter?? geez.. mine has been at a constant 12deg.. I might check it with the hydrometer and see if its changed much.

I might increase the temp just to kick fermentation off and then lower it to 12deg once the airlock starts bubbling

did the airlock bubble much with your brew?? mine hasn't even bubbled once yet!

Yup, 8 weeks in the fermenter. Increasing the temperature might work, but I'd be wary of doing that. I don't use an airlock, I just cover the fermenter with a clean tea towel. The CO2 generated by the brew displaces the oxygen, and the tea towel stops nasties from getting in there :gooff:

Home brew is the best!!! I use the keg system it takes 13 days start to finish. It costs a little more for the set up but it is sooo worth it,no cleaning bottles just sterilize the kegs and away you go! I had a problem in the winter months with fermentation because it is so cold, now I wrap an electric blanket around the keg and it is fine.

hi guys you all have the right idea about the temps but I think it may be the different yeast u used as the sugar content in the packet mix was probly matched to the yeast in the kit. mabee a solution.

if anyone is interested I can organise a tour of my work a distillery in sydney or for the mexicans a multi million dollar brewery and distillery in melbourn.

I work for inderpendant distillers.

the last beer batch I did was 25000 litres.
