Thanks

Deano

Pretty easy to clean it with a piece of cloth on the end of your finger and wrapped around a screwdriver. I have found that the buildup is fairly greasy and is easliy removed. If it is a bit tougher, you can buy spray cans of throttle body cleaner which I would not spray directly in, but onto a rag. It is a degreaser of sorts and I don't like the idea of that washing the oil film from my cylinders.

It only takes five minutes to pull the plumbing off to get to it.

does that cleaner not harm any sensors in the throttle body?

As God said, it is very corosive so I would put it on a bit of rag to use it. But in saying that it is designed to be sprayed into throttle bodies and carbies so it should not damage them.

Hey guys, in cleaning the throtle body what bits do you need to remove. I don't want to get too carried away and have half the car on the garage floor. If you have a photot of the engine bay and indicate that would help heaps.

Just need to pull the plastic intake on top of the engine and you will see a butterfly valve, that's the throttle body :spoton:

Ummm.... mine is cast aluminium! Are we talking about the same bit? The black thingy with flaking paint and turbo cast into it..... yep, that thingy. The intake crossover pipework. Three nuts and a couple of hose clamps to remove it.
