so does that mean the ZF cant be modified?

I remember having a worked trimatic on a vl with a failed oil pump while the box was fresh, the box lost drive and sh*t the internals and cracked the caseing. Im sure that ford would have a protection against this. Sounds like a bit of BS to me

And they probably never will ...

... because Ford have no ability to do any service work on the box - the warranty is completely covered by ZF and as far as Ford or any Ford dealer is concerned the box is just one single parts unit which is replaced as a complete unit if any problem arises.

I beleive that the boxes are sealed for life when they leave ZF - the only thing that is servicable/adjustable outside the ZF factory is the ECU.

That is true, they will just replace it rather than try to fix it.

I was also told the boxes are sealed for life, and that if they sh*t themselves, you get a replacement under warranty as long as you haven't upped the torque.
