Wouldn't know. But this came from a reliable source.. (within FOMOCO and a friend). I guess we can just wait and see what Performance shops do before we do anything.. and see the problems encountered.

The XR6 has a slightly different exhaust to the XT (flattened at the back), though it probably sounds the same due to the same engine being in both cars.

Different engine compression ratios and different mufflers will cause the engine to sound different, especially when the turbo is spinning.

Have any of you guys looked under your XR6T's and noticed the dual exhausts. I reckon that bolting on an aftermarket exhaust wouldn't make too much difference because the standard dual exhausts would have to flow better than say a 3inch single.

Damn they sounds good don't they.

That is true, it does have a dual exhaust through to the tailpipe, that is why it has the centre peice, where they both come in. The outlet at the turbo is 3". I think that this car would benefit from free flowing mufflers. that may be all that's needed. But I won't be doing it if I void my warrantee!

So you guys are actually saying that the NA XR6 (and maybe XT) have the same exhaust, while the XR6T has a different setup. I mean it would make sense, but I haven't heard what the turbo's sound like.

I should have a fair idea come Friday, which is when I pick up mine... Turbo of course!

Yes it is a different setup. It sounds completely different.. more gruntier.. i love the sound :D

Yep any kind of mods that lead to an increase in boost will be cut short by the PCM. It monitors boost levels, and seeing any rise in boost, it will instantly retard the timing, and if severe enough, to near total shutdown! :unsure:

Just a simple *cough* matter of reprogramming the EEC-VII PCM to not do this! :P
