For what it's worth, I'm advised that any changes to air intake or exhaust outlet will be detected by engine management and will cause running probs....so I'm told

anyone else heard similar??

l wonder if it is designed to intentionally cause problems to discourage modifying.

With modern computer power you would think the brain could easily be designed to compensate for these changes, if Ford had wanted too.

No doubt Ford could have coded the engine mamagement to discourage mods such as exhaust and air intake etc., but sooner or later there will be a after market chip that will solve those problems.

I'm staying stock for the term of the warranty and lease. If I buy it at the end of lease, I'll consider tweaks.

I have also heard from Ford Technicians that any mods will be detected by the Engine Management system and recorded. Even if you pull it out before servicing they will know you have changed something and most likely void your warranty :(

I've never had a Turbo Car, would an exhaust change be that dramatic???

Given say a WRX, what power increase would an exhaust change give, anyone know??

Absolutely. If I changed the exhaust in my 200SX to a good quality free flowing exhaust I believe the power increase is supposed to amount to around 20-30 +KW at the wheels.

I removed the rear resonator/muffler on my XR8 to get it sounding like a V8, and not a vacuum cleaner sucking through a pair of old socks.

I don't know what the XR6T sounds like, but I do know what the NA XR6 sound like... is there a great difference in sound between these 2 cars, and coming from a V8 am I going to be disappointed??
