hi,

Im wondering if anyone can help, I had my xr6t at the runs and I got a 13.7 but the turbo would not spool up the revs would not go past 2500rpm could someone tell me why and how I could change this. I know the turbo can spool up but its like it dosent spool up on the spot when reving it.

Cheers

If you're talking about spooling up while stationary on the start line, the solution to this is to change the torque converter to a "hi stall". This lets you rev to higher revs while stationary thus building more boost to take off with.

Have a look for "Dominator" hi stalls on the net.

I would have thought that boost should be made with 2500 revs, but yes the stock auto trans has a limiter on the torque convertor so you cant rev it past a certian point if you want more revs and feel your not getting the most out of your turbo at these revs do as exhasix said and get a hi stall, though 2500 should be plenty for the stock turbo

I'm going out on a limb here.

Mate, how many k's on your car? Is it a manual?

If less than 3000km, there's a limmiter which stops the thing from revving in neutral.

Other than that, a manual won't make boost just revving it.

If it's an auto, what type, 4 or 6spd??

Did you have your foot on the brake to stall it up, or just plonk your foot down??

More info needed, any modifications?? ..

its a stock auto 4spd foot on brake and handbrake up to stop wheel spin and in power mode and has done about 30,000ks. as soon as I saw this it wouldnt go more than 2500rpm I let go of brakes and took off.

before 3000km service my car would rev out no probs, cept when you had it in reverse and clutch in you cant rev it beyond 3000rpm.

mrits, it wont rev beyond 2500rpm with the stock auto, if you want more you need a hi stall, which is complely unnessary for you, unless you like running down the whole 1/4 mile in smoke

I agree,

If you want better quarter times there would be other mod's before the converter
