Flat head screwdriver, but the end of the screwdriver needs to be like made into a point for digging. This allows you to get under the clip and lift the screw part (that ironically don't screw) out. Um yeah...I dont quite understand why the bottom brackets dont work...perhaps the wog could enlighten us how the bottoms fit, maybe its just another orientation or some sh*te....nice decent size pics in the instructions would help heaps..Top brackets were just fine.... With regards to bending the brackets its nothing major and a lot of the bending is done when you tighten it all up.
