It appears it is a real debate inregards to auto or t5 manual,If my memory is correct wasnt the T5 manual in the Expensive Daewoo Walkinshaw ?? it HANDLED THE v8 power quite well.

Yeah it was... but it's not power that kills the T5, it's the torque. And when even slightly modified these cars make huge amounts of torque... my car for example has over 800Nm of torque at the flywheel...

The diff noise/driveline noise, would this be a warranty issue or a Ford problem that cant be fixed ??

They are pretty much all like that, just varying degree's of how harsh/loud the whine is... Ford won't/can't fix it. It's known here jokingly as a No Cost Factory Option... whether you want it or not...

I found the easiest way to get rid of the whine in diff

1. turn radio up

2. talk on mobile

3. drive faster

but be warned if u do all of the above with police behind, u r in the sh*t.

I have never heard a sound out of my diff, I know the sound you are talking about and it is extremely annoying, having ridden in my fair share of Taxis. It seems that some Falcons are blessed with it, others are not.

When you say it 'sounds like a taxi'... are you talking about the White XR6Ts :spoton:

Had a slight clunk in the rear sometimes when changing gears in my MANual, but that was fixed when Ford replaced my diff cradle. Now it's tight as, doesn't make a sound. No diff whine either, though I know the taxi sound you're talking about.

Anyone know how often the diff oil should be changed??

I went and had a look at two XR6T today.

Hard desition Black 5speed manual (looked horny)

Blue BA MK2 auto. (looked great as well)

Its so hard to deside one is series 1 the other a series 2, But from what you guys have said series 1 and 2 makes no real differance,Looks like its going to come down to colour.

What are some good first mods for my new beast (on a budget)

Have to hide it from the boss.

Cheers

I am sure most people will agree the first thing you should do is an EDIT with a Custom Tune. It will turn the standard car into a weapon. :msm: Expect about 250RWKW with just an EDIT. Keeping in mind the standard car makes about 180 - 190 RWKW, so it is a 30% improvement.

EDIT and Custom Tune should cost about $2K finished. That is the beginnning but be warned, once you start it will be very difficult to stop with the mods.

Buy the MkII Auto, it is quicker than a manual  And it gives you a spare hand to talk on the Mobile!!

I realise this will have been covered before

But is a capa flash tune good enough ??

Im a weekend warrior not a race track person (just want to be able to beet the avg V8 or rice driver)

The dyno chart looks impresive 245rwkw

I have been told I have to be careful of turbo edits as alot of people increase the boost psi to stupid limits (which makes the car go hard)

But will blow the ass out of the engine very quickly

Is this true or fauls

Cheers

The quality of your custom tune depends completely on the quality of the person/workshop who is tuning it...

If you are choosing between a MK1 manual, or a MK2 auto, choose the auto... you will be disappointed with the T5 if you do decide to modify the car...

Where are you located?
