I've just fitted the wog cooler and are still a little confused as to whether I will ne a re-tune.

Basically the way Im reading it is that to get the full benefit of the cooler you need an edit.

If I dont get the edit will I do any damage to the car or will it possibly go into limp mode

Yeah that's what Im trying to find out here.

it would be foolish not to throw it on a dyno and check the AFRs, and if they looked fine then you know your good to go on the stock maps.

HAve you driven it with the wogcooler on JET4C? Hows it feel?

put the cooler on, and dyno it.. im sure it'll be fine. I remember reading an article on the modification journey of the xr6t. They basically did the whole exhaust without edit, or controlling boost. It gave good results.. it wasn't until the car had more mods added that it went into limp mode.

An intercooler should be fine, as I'm sure the car will implement its safety measures if it sees anything wrong. To be safe, put it on the dyno, and see how it goes. It would be good to let other members know too, so they can make the right choices :spoton: if afrs are lean, or its not going right, take the intercooler off, or get a custom tuned edit :spoton:

AFRs should be fine, If any thing the car will overboost and go into limp mode (only lasts roughly 60secs or you can turn the car off to reset). My car was over boosting and going into limp mode after dump pipe and cat.

Dont stress the std computer has heaps of protection so it will hit safe mode before breaking stuff. :spoton:

I have it on good authority that the overboost/limpmode threashold was increased with the saga of the reflash last year.

Most stock cars that have had the reflash or came with it, should be able to run around 1-2 psi more before it goes limp.

I beleive the original program had it in limp mode after an extra .5psi was added, with the reflash it is around 6.5-7.5 psi more. :spoton:

I just had the 3000 kay service done last weekend, would they have done the re-flash then? It feels quicker and sounds beefier now

Might just loosen up with kms. I had a new engine put in at 3000kms and it seemed as though the gearbox, 6sp man also, was a bit of a restriction at the start......ie needed more time to loosen up than the engine itself. you may have auto though. You would have to ask if they flashed it (they only would if ford brought out a new tune id think???)

Ok guys,

I drove the car today and can definetely notice a difference in the performance, it drove well and didnt notice any issues with it! I will be more content after its been up on the dyno and had the required adjustments made.

Hopefully I should notice a noticeable difference.

Next thing is exhaust and then I will stop there for a while haha

Question for the ones who know! If an aftermarket cooler was installed on a std T, which it appears can be done safely, would this affect warranty.

I only ask because I have my front bar off at present, and was thinking about painting the cooler so it stood out behind my new BF GT bar. Than I thought how s**t hot it would look with a big arse cooler. I am getting a custom tune shortly, but I was just wondering about warranty!
