Does it actually increase the size of the hole going into the airbox? If not, I can't see how this would benefit since there is still the same size hole. It's not like you are increasing the capacity of the airbox.

nup, you actually cut a much larger hole where the original intake hole was.....

Interesting to see all the people finally come out of the woodwork on this one.....

As you'll note from the name of this topic, it's about the facts here.... not about the emotions of it all......

I too have a 2nd XR8 CAI which I am happy with...... I now have the SS Inductions kit as my 1st CAI, and, I'm happy with what it does... the car performs much better.....

Now, onto a secondary issue, is it worth $400..... probably not I'd say.... but hey, SS Inductions have put the time and effort into developing the product....... no such thing as a free lunch....

Each to his own I say...... My topic here was to report without emotion, what I have encountered and what I know to be factual..... There are many ways to skin a cat....... you could even go a 3rd or 4th intake if you want to go mental.......

Does the SS Kit increase power levels ? frankly I dont care..... Does the car respond better, have more urge ? YES. most definitely.....

Comments / Emotions / Personal choice aside.... simply put, if you want the T to perform better, you gotta let her breathe right....... how you do that is up to you..... but you WILL need to do something......

Cheers

Scott

Yeah good stuff... If the car performs better then the SS kit is worth having.

How does it perform better anyway? Does the turbo spool earlier, motors revs up quicker, throttle response, more low down punch??

What should we expect if we race out and buy one?

Yeah, I had one for awhile.

FACT 1: Mine was the new thicker walled unit with two uprights.

FACT 2: I removed my bonnet rubber completely.

FACT 3: It melted shut.

FACT 4: It robbed me of power.

FACT 5: I now have an $80 Typhoon 2nd CAI and couldn't be happier.

In my opinion, they are not worth the $385 you pay for them.

Spend $80 on a 2nd CAI and buy a K&N for around $120 and you have saved $185 and would still have a better intake (in my opinion).

Rob.

PS. They don't call them "SS Reductions" for nothing!

I had mine melt in the spot where the original one sits. emailed ss inductions about my problem, and got a replacement one when I sent the old one back. couldnt be any easier. I got the new thicker mouth with more uprights. :spoton:

Where did it melt? And did they give you a new one under their waranty?

The intake melted shut at the front. I didn't want another one. Sick of crappy products and service and why go through it all again.

The turbo spools earlier and it does rev up to redline quicker. I'd say more mid range punch.....
