Increased volume, decreased boost.. Air-con systems work on volume, not pressure.. air flow with volume, not pressure is more beneficial.. Decrease the pressure, increase the volume.. Less pressure on the turbo blades, the easier it spins, the easier/sooner it creates boost, the more boost, the more volume.. More volume more restriction..am I repeating myself yet.. Getting back to the balloon theory..The straw has to be of a volume whereas the balloon will still fill quickly, with minimal effort, yet still actually inflate the balloon and not leave too much volume of air in the straw.. If the lungs are empty, the balloon is half inflated and the straw is full, that's no good... Best scenario is, minimal effort, straw full and balloon inflated.. Removing it would increase flow and reduce backpressure on the turbo and lag.
