My car is apparently waiting for a "Pail Trap"...

What the hell is THAT?

From memory and I could be wrong a Pail Trap is a Grease and oil Trap for the bottom of your car...

I had glazing, rust proofing, fabric and vynil protection on my pulsar when I bought it. Set me back $900, got it from Endrust in Greenacre.

It might be a different story for the leather seats though.

Had the same experience. ordered on 23 October - Phantom, reverse sensors, tint, alarm, premium sound all the mats, shields etc as well as the Black label paint and rust with the Phantom interior. Got a call 3 days later to say that the PHantom interior would push me back to late December, but grey would get me the car by 17 November.

Being keen and anxious, I went for grey.

Since then it's been to and fro, call after call till eventually I had enough and called Ford on 1800 333 306 and kicked up an almighty stink. They told me the car had gone to FPV on 21 November and was ready to go a truck on 27 November. Called the dealer straight after and what do you know - my car is now urgent and was to go on a VIP truck straight to the Dealer. Looks like Wed next week after all my goodies have been added. Mde it clear to the Dealer that I was unimpressed with the delay and lack of information and that I would expect a considerable amount of free accessories to my car in compensation

I won't call anymore to avoid disappointment, so waiting for a call next week.

After all this, I still love the Blue Oval!!!!

Just read an article in Drive today that says XR6T delivery time frames have now extended to April/May!!!

When we icked up our XR6T this morning, the dealer still had the acid rush turbo l posted about last week. They decided to keep it as a demo as the delivery is so far out, at least people could see and drive one. Had one guy desperate for it, offered a grand over RRP and they still told him no.

Salesman reckons it will be the end of next year before the supply/demand inbalance for XR6T's stabilises. No wonder he was smiling.

Order now and you (I :( ) have a long wait ahead. May '03 was what a dealer told me yesterday.

As for my visit to the dealer - thankfully, that was the end of bad news.

The good news you ask? Probably when the guy I was dealing with threw me the keys to his 2 day old Phantom XR6T :o (not a demo) after I told him how "great" it was to wait 6 months for something without driving it. Unbelievable!

Took it for a drive and without a doubt the thing that stood out is its driveability. Forced into 4th at 40 kays and plant it - you'd never know. Had to merge onto a freeway from standstill and was a little apprehensive driving this car insured in his name but the power delivery is so fantastically progressive it just makes you feel very confident in such situations. Turbo lag? If it wasn't for the badge, you'd struggle to pick the blower. Interstingly, it had the optional sports steering wheel and it felt GREAT. Probably still won't go with it though as I'm pushing it as it is!

So, after resigning myself to no test drive, what an amazing surprise. It was not required at all on the part of the owner and was totally appreciated. Certainly showed me that there are dealers out there where the dollar isn't the bottom line. I hope you guys will understand if I don't mention his name as it will be unfair if a dozen people show up all wanting to drive his car.

Great car - but the wait will be agonising!
