It can happen qik it was just yesterday my own T could have been towed from a front and rear 4 car pile up 10sec after avioding the initial sideswipe of a driver.

Driver pulled into my lane I heavy braked to save it only to go over bridge to find car braking heavy behind a boat in front of me. Who pulled to right lane to miss boat, only to see in my mirror the driver who nearly side swiped the 1st time pulled in behind me so I didn't give her a gob full leavind me no room to brake.

I had to hook accross 3 lanes to avoid 2 cars and a boat with a 200hp outboard all in about 10 sec. I was very lucky

It takes a big man to post up something like this and I congratulate you for it.  Hopefully this serves as a timely reminder for us all on the potential outcomes of the power getting out of control.  It only takes a heartbeat and you're there.

I was nearly there myself yesterday.  110kph on the highway, 6th gear.  Applied 3/4 throttle and the car broke traction.  It could have ended in tears except for luck, I think.

I hope that the car will be back better than ever. :yeahyeah:

Do you guys all turn off your TC or something? I thought this would prevent the sudden spinning of the rear wheels...

If you read my first post , this thread is not about should have done this should have done that.... obviously, otherwise why would I post :gooff:

reading your sig it is easy to criticise what you might not understand, these cars with big power are dangerous in the wrong hands. Mine obviously on this occasion :fool:

Traction control may or may not have had anything to do with it, fact is it went wrong. Painful and embarrasing for sure. I am only trying to give the members a heads up how easily this can happen. There are a lot of cars running big power, so at least I had the nuts to admit my error.

I do not take your post as an attack, so dont worry. Does not matter how many advanced driver certificates you have it can still go awry and this is the point :spoton:

Yeh just wondered mate as I've found traction control to be pretty useful in the wet. My car (the EF) with no traction control slides around in the wet till the cows come home. Even on 1/8 throttle travel in a straight line.

Dad's car however no matter how hard you try wont get out of control in the wet (in a straight line of course) wont, as traction control gives you a little bit of a tail wag and then steps in instantly (also does this in the dry). It's a totally different story without it on.

The territory is the most sure footed being awd, having DSC and TC, having such a downforce on the road from its sheer weight and the fact that it is probably too underpowered to get loose.

I remember a few other people (a while back) posting about their bingles in (modified and stock) xr6t's saying when the car hit its boost over a rough patch of road they just lost control of it.

I just didnt understand how these incidents could happen in a straight line with a car that has traction control to step in and keep the situation under control (unless it was switched off for some reason such as a wheelspinning launch?).

Good on you too for having the guts to admit driver error and hope your car gets sorted soon. I love the colour rapid and was trying to get dad to buy a GT as his new car in that colour with black stripe but heard its been discontinued when we approached the dealer :(.

On a std T the TC will work if you accelerate with the clutch out. In anything but a perfectly straight line, if you drop the clutch TC does sweet fa.......in the dry you will slide then get a sudden halt like hitting the rev limiter.....in the wet.....forget about it, its too late!!!! I found out the hard way!!!!! edit or not, these cars can still be trouble.

Jewells, I will buy a bottle of Stroh to help ease your pain on the BVW11.

You won't feel anything after a few of these, not even Jeffs margerine covered hands! :spoton:
