Hey guys,

I have a mk1 XR6 turbo 5speed manual and I am thinking about putting a preformace exhaust system on. I went to my local exhaust shop and they gave me a quote on a redback exhaust system. few questions ....

Anyone got one of these exhaust systems and what do they think of it?

What sort of performance increases should I expect to get from this system.

thanks

craig

Spend the money on a custom tuned edit... you won't regret it.

I agree with Jack. doing the exhaust is a waste of money. You'll get next to zero performance gain unless you've got an edit or something, and as for the nicer note, just chop the centre muffler.

All that really needs doing for most peoples power increase is a hi-flow cat... again only if you have an edit or something of the like.

You are probably looking at around 14rwkw gain if you go a 3" system .... not sure what configuration the Redbak system is.

If you do a search on my posts, you will find a few long posts I've put up with dyno figures on a stock car then various exhaust mods.

Bang for your buck mods... yep that is the way to go...

My car made over 300rwkw with the full factory exhaust in place... I have since changed just the cat and it now sits at a very comfortable 315rwkw, it has made a best of 324rwkw with this same set up...

The cat cost me $290 from Pro Speed Racing who are a forum sponsor and it cost $150 to fit it...

No reason you cant get the zorst then get the tune a little down the track. you get a bit of noise to keep u happy and u dont have to fork out for the Zorst and tune both at once or get a retune if u get it done after the tune. I just had my cat changed and muffler removed no real differance in seat of the pants feel but sounds like its going somewhere now, tune hopfully next month. $420 bucks with twin 3" tips out the back
