1/4 Mile Track Temperatures

How much does the track & ambient temps influence 1/4 mile times?

I am trying to work out what to expect when we run again in 3 weeks.

My PB is 12.55 @ 113 when I had 257rwkws. I have since gained ~20kw's atw's and have had 3 runs with that tune, the best being 12.6 @ 110 on its first run.

That was after the car had sat for over 2 hours. Second run was about 13.3, third was a 14.5. You get the idea, it was hot.

Ambient that night was about 35C, not sure what the track temp was.

I hope to run 12.2 / 12.3 when ambient will be 25C lower during BVMK11?

Is that reasonable?

I think it is Luke.

When the air is hot it's thinner so you will lose power, your MPH proves this.

What tyres are you thinking of using because with cooler temps / more power, traction is likely to become an issue?

With 250rwkw I did a 12.86 @ 113 with around a 2.4 60ft. Later in the evening when it was cooler (14 degree track temp) I managed 2.1 60 but had to backoff cause the car was stepping out @ 110ks for a 12.9 @ 11:censored:

I've always thought that your 12.55 with 257rwkw was a bit of a benchmark :blink: What was your 60 for that run?

The temp that night was the hottest we have run in I think. I was the same as you, let the car sit for a few hours and the fastest run I got was a 12.78 I don't remember the MPH as I was pissed off. That was the fastest run of the night for me.

Looking forward to BVWII and a low 12 even a high 11

When I ran a 12.3 it was 32 degrees and I was running 116mph and a 270rwkw tune.

Your mph is suggesting that your car wasnt making you 280rwkw.

I have run anything from 12.4 @110 38degree's to 11.7 @114 @20 degree's

with the same tune.

also stock I ran 13.9 @101 @ 17 degree's to 14.6 @95 @35 degree's

the cars detunes to heat to, and that is why the power drop is so much.

through water temp

air charge temp

oil temp

and cylinder head temp

so there can be a lot of timing getting pulled out sometimes

this is also the reason some cars ping, when cold, the computer can add timing when cold, and unless this is changed in the flash tune, sometimes it can rattle.

I did a 12.8@108.5mph..air temp was 14c,humidity was 98%,abs baro 29.96?? and track temp was 23..

I done two 13.1's within 30min and left car for 1hr40min and then did the 12.8..each run I did a very little burnout in water..

2.00 was the 60', running pretty sh1tty street tyres.

I have better street tyres now and will be using those.
