Watch the replay. He moves his hand and arms back above his head as to ensure there was no mistake.

that's what I mean he moves his arm and that's what makes the ref think he is tripping the Italian guy, he NEVER connects and he is trying to avoid it ...

I think some people have hit the nail on the head when saying the aussies didn't take advantage of the red card and score sooner. However, as soon as the red car was given, you could tell that the italians were playing a very defensive game, and all due credit to them for their great effort!

its not the italians I am upset with, as the aussies would quite easily have accepted that free kick, and what we see here now would the opposite. Its the game in general that lets the supporters down. Poor referee calls, and the fact that a fake can change any game so dramatically. Not saying that the italian guy faked anything in the box, as it was obvious he ran into the aussie defender, but it was no foul.

well, at least the Ukraine made it through :spoton: that's my mums heritage.. so at least I have another team to go for now...

I agree MRDOHC. But seriously though, why would Lucas Neill, arguably the best Aussie player at the touremant, pull such a stupid stunt at that moment.

You can see he went to ground and got into position so as not to attract the attention of the ref, but he still gets dudded.

Lucas must be feeling real sh*t right now, through no fault of his own.

And Ivan, I agree, go Aussies, they made me proud to be a living in this country.

The problem is, while all of our soccer heros play overseas, they are considered untouchable by the fans, who have ready access to their league and AFL heros. So it will never be the sport it should be in this country.

In a recent survey of Yanks, on what sport they watched most, soccer was at no67, 1 place behind Tractor pulling. And this in a country who has hosted the cup and made the qtrs before. Same story, there stars go overseas and they are able to touch there baseball and gridiron heros.

If the A league wasn't such a D league, then soccer would escalate in this country.

no point in saying the aussies would of accepted the free kick... too true they would of!!!!! any team would, not one would say no to it.

The whole issue is the getting of the free kick was not deserved... no one is bagging the italians... its the ref.... the italians got a free kick because of the ref.

the ref sucks, not the italian team.... the video ref is overdue and this was another showing of that

the ref farked up, as a result the aussies lost... pure and simple

True but the ref would not have given the penalty if the Italian player did not take a dive in the first place. :gooff:
