Good work Tom!!

It must be a weird feeling in the group knowing that what you are doing is making history...

Jack  :stirthepot:

Well come to Big Vic Weekend 2 and you'll be a part of HISTORY too.

What a game. The Aussies got the result they deserved. They have played well enough in all three games to be in the next round.

Kalac felt so bad after the game that he was suicidal. Apparently he tried to dive in front of a bus but it just glanced off him and continued down the road.

Top effort all round by the boys - except for the keeper.

Now, I may be a lounge chair expert only, but what the fark was Hiddink thinking of starting with Kalac instead of Schwarzer??????? WTF, WTF, WTF... Kalac has had absolutely fark all actual game time in the past year - two starts for his club to be precise and yet he is the starting keeper in the most crucial game of Aussie football ever.... Sure the first goal was a ripper and no-one would have stopped it...but the tell tale signs were there for Kalac with his fumbling on so forth...every time the ball went near him I cringed.....if the Aussies are to progress we need Schwarzer in goals and Bresciano starting - which is a given now that Emerton is suspended.....apart from that, top effort Aussies, go out there and kick some arse...

Not a wog-ball fan at all (very peculiar growing up in Stanthorpe) but I have begun to appreciate the efforts these guys put in, especially relishing the come-from-behind underdog status.

It isn't often you see Australia ranked 42 in the world in such a prominent world sport (THE world sport?) and even rarer is the fact they aren't dogging it merely because they lag behind.

They are doing Australian sport proud and I'm doing my best to try and understand the game a bit more...though the offside rule STILL has me :spoton:

I have never watched a full game of soccer in my life until this world cup, I always thought it was so boring.

Now I am firmly on the Socceroo's bandwagon. I was up watching the game this morning and it was great.

Hopefully we can beat the Italian's. :spoton:

One thing I won't do is have a go at Hiddink for giving Kalac a go... he may well have been absolutely flying in practice and training and one thing that Hiddink does is he takes chances, that's why we are even here in the first place... if you remember back to the Uraguay game he took a chance on Schwarzer to take the penalty kicks, as he was thinking of taking him off... he backed his judgement in that situation and he did it again this morning.

Unfortunately Kalac under the intense pressure of the occasion didn't cut the mustard, but that is life... I really feel for him as if we had lost I can only imagine the bollocking he would've gotten from the media... but winning hides even the biggest of flaws, but I should think that he won't get the starting job against Italy, but then again you never know, Hiddink may give him one more chance to make up for this morning... I sincerely hope he doesn't.

Edit-Has anyone else noticed that as soon as Joshua Kennedy comes on the game changes tack slightly in our favour, he plays a similar role to Crouch of England but he seems to be more dangerous on the ground than Crouch... I really like him as a Socceroo's prospect going forward!!

Lumpy :spoton:

Not sure if you're into shoe shopping Lumpy??? but here is one interpretation...

You're in a shoe shop, second in the queue for the till. Behind the shop assistant on the till is a pair of shoes which you have seen and which you must have.

The female shopper in front of you has seen them also and is eyeing them with desire. Both of you have forgotten your purses.

It would be totally rude to push in front of the first woman if you had no money to pay for the shoes. The shop assistant remains at the till waiting.

Your friend is trying on another pair of shoes at the back of the shop and sees your dilemma. She prepares to throw her purse to you.

If she does so, you can catch the purse, then walk round the other shopper and buy the shoes.

At a pinch she could throw the purse ahead of the other shopper and, *whilst it is in flight* you could nip around the other shopper, catch the purse and buy the shoes.

Always remembering that until the purse had *actually been thrown* it would be plain wrong to be forward of the other shopper.

Congratulations - You have just learned the offside rule!
