3 yellows and 2 reds to Simunic, what the f*ck? :spoton:

Ref really f*cked up this game, especially not granting Viduka the penalty early in the first half...

Bad sportsmanship by the Cro's, especially when Srna told Cahill to get f*cked when Cahill tried to help him up...very dissapointed in Simunic as well...

But how funny was Kranjcar jumping up into his assistants arms every time they scored, looked poofy :spoton:

Great tough attacking game on both sides, wasn't much defending involved, but moore, neil did great work when it was needed.

I think Kalac did some good saves, but Swarzer is definately a better goalie. I don't know if that's because he gets more game time, but yeah...

On the plus side, I got the result I wanted a draw, and my old man in law owes me a case of JD

Only it'll take a while to get it considering he lives in Croatia :tease:

I would have normally slept through this game, but I had a call from a client that a server was down at 4:30am.

I was working on the server while watching the game and I have to say I was interested.

I think the ref is suffering a severe case of NFI, I do not know how he missed the handball infront, when Oz was going for a goal, also the 3 yellows...WTF ?

Anyhoo a great result, I even got my 1yo baby up to watch the last 10 mins so he can say he watched Oz get into the second round.

Go Australia, you good thing

I feel for the Cros - they played hard.

I feel for the Socceroos - they had to beat a bloody tough team AND the referee.

I feel most for the ref. The poor pommy b@st@rd was out of his league ... literally ... I mean at one stage he didn't know whether he was reffing a game of soccer or rugby. I feel he never had control of the game right from the start and that is why it turned so physical and caused frustration to both sides - how else do you explain the high number of yellow and red cards?

Anyhow - go you Aussies. If we can get just a break even in the penalties in our game against Italy we have a damn good chance of knocking them out.

If you think the umpiring has been bad so far.....

wait till you see the match against Italy.

They know how to corrupt and manipulate officials......

Yeah, but hopefully they will be in court on Tuesday defending themselves against all the (alleged) league charges... :stirthepot:

That is a huge world football story... just crazy.

I got up early, to watch the game

But within minutes we were down, Viduka to blame.

The Cro-ats scored from a free kick shot,

Bloody good kick, into the top left spot.

The Ausies were rattled immediately into action

And the attack came strong, with plenty of attraction.

Viduka was fouled in front of the net

A Simonovic rugby tackle, a penalty we should get

But alas the ref, was not convinced of the strife

And the cro-ats were spared another life.

We had great control of the ball through the half

5 shots on goal, from the forward staff.

The Lord above finally answered our psalms

When the ump saw the Croatians using their arms.

So we were awarded the penalty kick free

And Craig Moore scored the equaliser for us all to see.

Red and white checked fans went meek like a child,

Whilst the Ausies in the crowd went absolutely wild!

We held the 1 all draw into the midway break,

Hopeful that it’ll be all for the final 16 to make.

The second half saw a resurgent Croatian attack,

And a pissy kick from Kalac, saw them get the lead back.

Our goalie really could have done better, I’ll bet.

He fumbled the block, the ball dribbled into the net

So again we rallied, coming from behind….

With lots of heart in our side you’ll undoubtedly find.

Guus made the changes, to strengthen the offensive

Kept the fans on the edge of seats, totally pensive.

The ref continuously failed to fulfil his obligations,

How many yellows for a send-off fuelling our frustrations

With 11 minutes to go, Aloisi got his head to the ball,

Kewell volleyed a shot, watching the Croat keeper fall.

The response came strong, from the green and gold crowd

“Come on Ausie” was the chant, as the 2-all score made them proud

The last 10 minutes were nervous for all….

More infringements un-noticed, the ref not heeding the call

Finally the ref decided he had something to do…

A red card for Kovac, and for Emerton too :(

Our boys stood strong, though the pressure made them spent

And out of the competition is where the Croations were sent.

So the Ausies have secured a page in soccer history,

Now the challenge is “How much more history will it be!”

Good work Tom!!

It must be a weird feeling in the group knowing that what you are doing is making history...
