Bain - there are some other threads on here that have been stating that the SL and SSL package that most people have are actually softer than the standard XR springs.

Does anyone know what the standard XR Spring rates are?

Can anyone list the standard King SL and SSL rates?

Also Bain, I dont think there are SSL front and SSSL rears, and if there was, you must need shorter travel shocks as well.

I have decided to replace the swaybars first, and maybe put SL and SSL on later.

PS - the more I see pictures of cars with 19s and 20s, and hear of the issues with weight, width, height and clearance - the more I am liking my standard Mk2 17 inch mags. They are a great looking wheel, and I reckon a lowered car on these is a nice package.

Cobra, I hear what you're saying mate. Those same problems with the larger rims (plus the extortionate/exponential increase in the cost of (decent) tyres by going up just 1") were the main reasons I chose to go for 18" rims. :gooff:

I dunno what the spring rates are but am surprised to hear that the King Springs are softer than stock. Purely from the feel of the car, I would say that the Kings are certainly stiffer than the factory items, but without being overly harsh. One of the more critical (in a good way) members of the forum who was against lowering cars was very impressed with the way my car drove when he took it for a spin. The springs seem to have settled over time and perhaps firmed up the ride a little more, but it's still very acceptable for daily driving and my wife has no issues with the ride quality. The King Springs are also progressive rate springs.

Also, I agree with the sentiment that SSSL springs don't exist - unless they're a special order or something, 'cos they're certainly not listed in the catalogue.

My 2cents, I have herrod springs and camber kit. The attached pic was taken a week or so after it was done and it has settled a bit more now. It not quite as low as the king set up which looks awesome, but gives a little more clearance for those who need it. Cost was about $800 - $900 parts and fitting. Some people have got away without a camber kit.

I believe the front King SL springs are rated at 400lb. You can also get 520lb and 800lb springs for the front. Not sure about the spring rate for the rears though.
