Carputer In Xr6 Turbo

Hi There,

I've got a carputer running in my BF XR6 Turbo. Here's a couple of pictures -

Everything is working fine (MP3, DVD, GPS) but the display is screwed up, this is what I've got -

The display is vehicle specific - it has to be 640x480 resolution with a refresh rate of 60 Hz (which is what I have it set to)

The display has to be in NTSC, but I've got my VGA cable running into the factory input which seems to work OK with the Red/Blue/Green signal, perhaps the Sync is wrong (I have connected the H-Sync with the V-Sync to make a combined Sync signal)

Any ideas on where I have gone wrong??

the screen is not able to take a VGA signal. It is only intended for a TV style RGB NTSC signal.

what you need to do is combine both your H&V syncs to NTSC's 60hz. this will then give you the picture your after.

also you may find that a res of 720x480 may fit the screen better as it is a wide screen

I have this picture of a H-Sync + V-Sync to Composite Sync converter -

But if I can avoid having to do this it would be great.

If you find a way to do it without combining the syncs then please let me know.

I have been told by a mate that you can "fool" the syncs into giving the correct combined value by having really odd ball sync settings on the VGA side. That being said, he has never been able to shown me that it actually works and has since built a cct not too dissimilar to the one you listed above. :rokon:

I'm not sure if that would do the job.

I'm waiting on a new video card which is meant to do the job (however, the one I bought was also meant to be OK for this application) so will let you all know how I go.

Well, I've got it working.

After many hours of manually changing settings on the Video Card, I finally jagged the correct values.

Here's the results

haha good work! so you just play mp3's or videoclips through the PC and u get all sounds to the car? great setup!
