I remember reading someone say that the ecu gets reset when you disconnect the battery? could it be that my ecu didnt adjust to the 2nd cai and air filter properly (I doubt itll give that much better fuel consumption though).:S Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/26136-weird/#findComment-393586 Share on other sites

In a nutshell the DTE continually adjusts as you drive based on your average consumption and what is left in the tank. It doesn't suddenly realise that you've changed the filter and adjust immediately. Guest Guests Posted 13/06/06 04:36 AM Share Posted 13/06/06 04:36 AM You drive around with a super lead foot don't you???Since the PCM is a self learning module, it will memorize your driving habits and calculate a predicted fuel expenditure as a result. Fill your tank up all the way next time, disconnect the battery once doing so, then drive around sensibly. You should notice that your DTE should be up around the high 500's. I used to suffer from a bloody gimp right foot like yourself, right up until fuel hit $1.40 a litre an stayed there.Darren Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/26136-weird/#findComment-394016 Share on other sites
