Be watchful when buying a Walbro or Bosch pumps there are imitations around make sure your pump is stamped with the maker and part number on the side of the pump.

Ebay or mail order performance shops, is a place where you could end up with a imitation pump, some sellers are warning potential purchasers that there pumps are the genuine product.

I need to upgrade my fuel pump. I'm looking at the Walbro pumps as that seems to be what everyone is using as an in tank replacement.

I've seen 2 models numbers that people are putting in there XR6T's:

GSS-341

GSS-342

From what I can find they're both 255L/H.

Does anyone know what the difference is between these 2 pumps?

What's the going price for these and where's the best place to buy one?

Thanks for you help. :spoton:

Automotive Service Solutions (the old Petroject) sell an upgrade fuel pump kit for the XR6T / F6. It comes complete with the pump, small fuel line, and connector for the new fuel pump. Costs around $200 - $220 from memory.

I've installed one of these with the new Walbro GSS-294 pump. Fits the factory cradle no problems. Also, the 294 pump is rated at 270l/hr, rather than 255l/hr like the older 341/342 pump.

Doing a wiring modification to the car allows the pump to flow and extra 10-15% on top of the rated fuel flow in certain applications.

Like BCL said, once you start making over 350rwkw you should consider fitting a swirl pot and a Bosch 044 pump to ensure consistant fuel delivery.

Another modification to consider is bypassing the factory fuel pressure regulator and installing a rising rate adjustable reg, such as a Malpassi. Helps increase fuel pressure when running high boost levels.

I found using the standard covoluted fuel line in the caddy to be fine(just make sure that its clamped up nice and tight on the new pump) and used the std filter sock on the new gss 341 to work fine. Slight mod to the wiring required.

If doing a ute, god help you getting the caddy out of the tank (very fiddly) but the sedans are quite easy.

Not sure what the difference is but I installed a GSS342 the other week and got it in fine. It's nice and quiet and runs like a dream!

I have read that the newer GSS-342 is higher pressure, same volume but at higher pressure.

Just got another one last week from a local Ebay seller cost me $130.50 picked it up...

He told me the GSS-341 will be discontinued soon and the GSS-342 is its replacement.

Thanks for all the info guys! :crybaby:

rboksic, does one of those match the inlet and outlets of the stock pump?

If one does I'm guessing it makes it a lot easier to install.
