If you spent $33K on a T, then spent another $20k on mods, your car is still worth ~$33K.

Spend $53 on a Phoon, you have a $53K Phoon.

If you are not worried about return, get what ever floats your boat.

Just do the maths, and do what YOU think is right for YOU!

The only real mod to my T is a CAPA flash tune. With the 8psi tune it's producing 227rwkw's which is similar to a Phoon's std output. (I'm not saying it's as good as a Phoon).

I'm just about to fit a BF Typhoon kit with a 2 leg GT wing. I know I'm going to get labeled and moked. But I don't give a flying f**k. It's my car and the styling of the BF Phoon is simply awesome.

Once it's out of warranty look out, the mods will come. So just to sum up, I'll have a car that looks like a Phoon, with not to shabby performance. And did I mention about $20k better off!

My 2c worth!

To compare a Typhoon engine with a seriously modified XR6T engine is a bit of a joke, and you will have to do internal modifications to the Typhoon as well if you want RELIABLE 400 rwkw.

And you base this statement based on what? F6 engine failures attempting to run 400rwkw? I think you'll find Simon's F6 was making a RELIABLE 370rwkw before he removed his engine. Judging from the comments made about the condition of the engine there was nothing wrong with it. I would be interested to see if the rods suffered from any stretch, compression or distortion.

Unless you're contemplating using your car for Production Car racing or serious circuit racing the F6 engine will comfortably cope with short bursts of hi-power applications.

that's a big turn around for you jason, you used to say the total oposite from memory. Good to see you see the value in the FPV product, its well worth the extra

No Simon, it's not a turnaround, rather, a matter of calculating the cost of the modifications vs change-over value. For example:

XR6T engine upgrade - $4.5k minimum plus fitting and tuning.

Valve spring upgrade - $800 labour plus parts.

Clutch upgrade - $1500

Trans upgrade (if 5-speed manual) - $6k approx, excluding clutch kit

Brake upgrade - $2-3k for BA Performance brakes (non-Brembo)

Suspension - $1500 - $2000

And so on, and so on. Doing some quick arithmatic your easily forking out $17,300 to upgrade the XR to F6 spec. And then you still don't have the FPV branding and build number.

So in my case, changeover represented better value for money than upgrading the XR :spoton: And need I say how much better I consider the auto over the 6-speed manual.

I'd rather the genuine FPV than a modified XR. But that's my opinion only.

Ref the Performance brakes & the heavier valve springs, does'nt the BF XR6T have them as a standard upgrade ? Also does anyone know what sort of power the 6 speed auto will handle considering they don't have bands. I am also told that the 6 speed auto is the same in both the Phoon & XRT but is a lighter box in the XR6:fool:

He's after 400 rwhp, not rwkw.

I know of a Nizpro customer (who I got my F6 cooler from) who has a BA Mk2 Typhoon who has fitted one of their stage 2's ($7995 fitted and tuned) and he is making 375rwkw on his street tune, and I've seen a best of 420rwkw with VP109... all this with the entire factory exhaust including dump pipe and cat still in place... on a standard Typhoon motor, the car is a daily driver.

He's also run a 12.00 quarter mile not sure of MPH, he also has a best 60 footer of 1.72 going on to run 12.10 at 105mph backing right off before the traps (not sure why he did this...)

There is plenty of scope in the stock Typhoon... it makes me wish that I had the money for one :spoton:
