The difference between the two adjustments is quite pronounced with the V8, can't comment on the 6.  The stiffer setting is too responsive for the street.  You find the car moving with ever undultion in the road.

I had my car setup on the harder setting with the adjustable front and rear bars on the XR6T. This in conjunction with the 520lb front and 310lb rear springs made for an extremely firm ride and super responsive. Great for track days, but too firm for the street.

For street use I'd recommend leaving the bars at the softer setting.
