you should really go for a turbo, v8 suck balls they are just noisy slow  :+1: boxs, if you want power get a turbo  with a turbo all you have to do is boost the  :yeahyeah:  up, and watch the times drop, you cant do that with a v8!!   that's my 2 cents!

Eat-xr6 what have you got that making 519kw at the treads?

and T3 is better on fuel....? I though they where universally bagged for using so much fuel...?

Actually NO - they use only little more than the AU XR8s and mine actually gets better economy than my daughter's worked (chip and exhaust) AU XR6 ute.

My 300+rwkw xr6t 6speed manual ute gets around 450 to 500k's out of a tank around town and between 680 and 720 on the high way sitting on around 120...id say that's pretty resonable fuel consumption....how hard does your daughter drive her ute?

Yep I'd say it's pretty good too. Better than I get from the T3 on a power/econ comparison. I get roughly about what you do but with ony 220kW at the rears.

She drives it like you should drive an XR6 ute - just ask Saleen :smilecouncil:

For towing and hwy work get the 8.

I've had 1 too many reliability problems to reccomend a T.

though the BF's may have that all sorted.....

Would you be disapointed every time you got blown off by a T if you got a V8 or would you be disapointed every time the T went back to the dealer for work?

Take your pick.

Not all of us are as unfortunate as you having ready access to open speed limits though.......you pr!ck :kissmy:

I don't know what is "unfortunate" about having open speed limits Tab, I thought it would be fortunate? :kissmy::spoton:

I forgot the [Tongue planted firmly in cheek]

Old mate sixfan is usually one here bragging about the open limit.......well at least until he started changing turbos every time he filled up :smilielol:

Well he inferred he was buying second hand so I (probably incorrectly) assumed he'd be looking at the four-speed auto and it was with that in mind that I made my comments. The six speed will definitely be a better proposition, but I still don't think it will match the manual for fuel economy.

Fair point

Autos are still superior though :msm:

:gooff:

 off Trent, I get TWO tanks per turbo ya liar!

just wondering also what is the fuel consumption on both these cars

In a word - abysmal. They are heavy suckers. 2 tonne by the time you put a driver and a handful of CDs in.

The manual Turbos are the best (naturally) but they are stretched to get any better than 15l/100km in city/burbs and 10l/100km on the highway. Next comes the manual V8, then the auto V8, then the auto 6T. Yes, the auto 6T is the worst for fuel economy.

Now I know some people will jump in and tell us what they get and it's better (or even worse) - but I'm quoting from experience the "general" figures most people seem to achieve.

PS Another area where the T3 shines ... better on fuel than any of the BAs you are considering (about on par with a manual XR6T).

While not wanting get into yet another argument over transmissions, the ZF is “supposed” to be more fuel efficient than anything else.

Well that’s what Ford are saying in their marketing – and they wouldn’t be stretching the truth now would they

Regarding fuel economy, there is NO WAY an manual is MORE fuel efficient than an auto!!! Givin the same driver (and style), an auto is WAY better than a manual. A 4sp auto has measurably better economy than a 6sp manual, let alone the 6speed auto.

Drive got an average 9 - 11 l/100k from the XR6, and a few more ltrs for the turbo on a city/highway test cycle for the 6 speed auto. I can bearly crack below 15 l/100k city/highway in my manual and that's before I start to give it a bootfull!

Just one word - CRAP!

If you seriously can't get better than 15l/100km in highway driving you need to get some driving lessons from a professional - and quick!

PS I will gladly offer my time at $50ph - within 2 hours I reckon I'll have you saving up to 30% on your fuel. :spoton:
