For towing and hwy work get the 8.

I've had 1 too many reliability problems to reccomend a T.

though the BF's may have that all sorted.....

Would you be disapointed every time you got blown off by a T if you got a V8 or would you be disapointed every time the T went back to the dealer for work?

Take your pick.

Not all of us are as unfortunate as you having ready access to open speed limits though.......you pr!ck

I don't know what is "unfortunate" about having open speed limits Tab, I thought it would be fortunate? :tease::blink:

you should really go for a turbo, v8 suck balls they are just noisy slow  boxs, if you want power get a turbo :tease: with a turbo all you have to do is boost the  :pooh:  up, and watch the times drop, you cant do that with a v8!!  thats my 2 cents!

Eat-xr6 what have you got that making 519kw at the treads?

and T3 is better on fuel....? i though they where universally bagged for using so much fuel...?

just wondering also what is the fuel consumption on both these cars

In a word - abysmal. They are heavy suckers. 2 tonne by the time you put a driver and a handful of CDs in.

The manual Turbos are the best (naturally) but they are stretched to get any better than 15l/100km in city/burbs and 10l/100km on the highway. Next comes the manual V8, then the auto V8, then the auto 6T. Yes, the auto 6T is the worst for fuel economy.

Now I know some people will jump in and tell us what they get and it's better (or even worse) - but I'm quoting from experience the "general" figures most people seem to achieve.

PS Another area where the T3 shines ... better on fuel than any of the BAs you are considering (about on par with a manual XR6T).

While not wanting get into yet another argument over transmissions, the ZF is “supposed” to be more fuel efficient than anything else.

Well that’s what Ford are saying in their marketing – and they wouldn’t be stretching the truth now would they

Well he inferred he was buying second hand so I (probably incorrectly) assumed he'd be looking at the four-speed auto and it was with that in mind that I made my comments. The six speed will definitely be a better proposition, but I still don't think it will match the manual for fuel economy.

Actually NO - they use only little more than the AU XR8s and mine actually gets better economy than my daughter's worked (chip and exhaust) AU XR6 ute.

I forgot the [Tongue planted firmly in cheek]

Old mate sixfan is usually one here bragging about the open limit.......well at least until he started changing turbos every time he filled up :pooh:

My 300+rwkw xr6t 6speed manual ute gets around 450 to 500k's out of a tank around town and between 680 and 720 on the high way sitting on around 120...id say thats pretty resonable fuel consumption....how hard does your daughter drive her ute?

So um... How the hell do you consider 18-19L/100km as being 'good' fuel consumption?

Oh wait, you mean that its a top effort, as in, "hey check out how much fuel I can use without trying, bet you can't use that much!" kind of way? Because otherwise I'm confused at how 1 person can own a T3 that is getting great fuel consumption that goes againts, well... Every other T3 owner on the planet (backed up by test results; wheels, motor, NRMA and drive.com.au).

On that note, I really need to take a crap.

hey just need a little help, I used to own an 04 xr6 na had to sell it to get a house now I traded it in for a courier :+1: which I hate, so I now have my house and would like to get rid of the courier for something with a bit more power.

This is where the problem is I cant figure out which one would be better a turbo or an 8, as I do tow a trailer now and then and most of my driving is on a highway, so which one would be better.

and also if you know of any nice cars going cheap in brisbane /surrounding areas let me know.

If I was in your position, id definately go for the T.

Also, if u a person that worries over fuel prices, an XR8 wont help on that issue aswell.

Fuel prices arent gonna be comin down!!! In saying that, Filling up on a T aint cheap but still better then an XR8.

Performance wise, boost up a T, and say laters to THA BOSS!!

that's my views buddy.
