As Saleen said (as much as I don’t like to give credit to the clown) do you want something that can sing or something that can dance?

Hi Wados

I just had a look at the value in redbook and they put it at between $26,000 and $30,000. not including those wheels, I think $27,000 would be a good buy.

As for towing capacity, with my old XR6T I used to tow up to three trail bikes on a very heavy 4 bike trailer and could still overtake cars on the backroads like they were standing still, you could hardly notice the extra weight it was carrying.

Most guys I know that have V8's are using between 16-20L/100km, where as in the Typhoon I get about 12-14L/100km unless I'm giving it a real hiding, like at the FPV drive day, and even then it only used 17.4L/100km and that was driving it flat out all day, so I don't think the V8 will win any economy trials.

Even my old XR6T got about the same economy.

I'd be looking seriously at that ute if you can get it for $27,000. The dealer probably paid about $22-24,000, so he's not going to lose on the deal.

Good Luck

Big AL

If money is an issue go with the cheapest you can get, T or V8.  If you can find a XR8 within your price range I'd say go for the XR8.  I have to agree with DaveO here.  The XR8 might be slightly slower, but it sure sounds better.  The noise alone when accelerating enhances the driving experience which means huge smile!  Just listen to this.

XR8 sound

Nice aint it :)

Go the V8!  :nono:

Heres both sounds..... you make up your mind...

went to a dealer today who tried to convince me out of a turbo (due to his mates using around 17l/100) got me to drive an XR8 and a f/ghia 3v, the xr8 had nice power but I wouldn't get one in an auto too laggy down low but the note was awesome, the fairmont ghia was a stunner nice comfy interior smooth ride and torque from down low it ran out of power earlier than the xr8 and the note wasn't as good, but in the end I'm still getting a T the push back in the seats and value for modification just cant be beat

I was in the same boat as yourself so I took both for a test drive and it took a lot of test driving in both the 8 and the T(about 2 weeks)and it was the 8 I went for so take both for a spin and see what you want not what people tell you to get.

I think an unopened boss has made it into the 11s now. Get an 8, it can sing AND dance! :msm::blink:

But I agree with Envi_XR8, test drive both and choose what pleases you.
