How quick we all forget untill the current Typhoon the quickest EVER Ford to come out of Aus is a V8 Boss

The Legend GT-HO ran a 14.6 and the MKII GT ran 13.9,T series 14.1,Xr6T MK1 14.3

With enough money the current Boss motors could run a sub 10 sec pass as do windsor and cleveland V8's

260 Boss=Dissapointing

290Boss=Very enjoyable

BF F6=The BEST

290 TT Boss=The ultimate

CYA JEFF :spoton:

No mate that hasn't been forgotton at all. But the whole point is that compared to the opposition offerings the BOSS is behind the 8 ball.

The T3 is still the ONLY V8 produced by Ford Oz since the GTHO III that has had the goods over the opposite camp (on a contemporary basis).

It's not to do with the motor. It's the weight of the cars.

Seriously, how would Jeff's T3 go against your GT? Ever had a run?

There will always be a few diehards who want a V8.

Heck, I was a loyal GM fanatic, looked at an SS ute, and jumped ship to a Ford 6 cylinder,

It was a decision based on the the effective performance.

Now if Ford brought out a supercharged (or turboed) 5.4 litre which put out 650Nm of factory grunt from 2000 to 5500, with a peak power of 400kW and outperformed supercars costing 3 times the price....

Then yes, I think a lot of people would consider it.

My next vehicle WILL be a forced induction 8....

I would prefer it to be a factory installation (with a few mods) :spoton:

In comparison to the LS1 and LS2 the boss v8 isn't bad you just have to remember that fords are alot heavier then holdens and when you look at the stats like torque and power:

LS2 6.0L=530nm and 297kw Clubby R8 =1696kg

Boss 5.4L=520nm and 290kw GT =1855kg

So for an engine that is 600ml smaller in capacity yet produces nearly exactly the same stats for power and torque ford isn't doing that bad.

Although I prefer the turbo in regards to the V8 I say throw the LS2 into a GT and see if it performs as well as what the boss V8 does.

In a straight line Ross he could probably shade me espercially at the higher end of the speedo - with the mods done it certainly would be a serious concern for him if it didn't. :spoton:

The difference is in the day to day driveability - the T3 has torque (almost linear) right from idle - the BOSS motors are much more peaky by comparison. I've driven GTs and I prefer the response of my car in everyday situations.

Generally speaking when you find yourself in a situation that calls for a bit of biff the T3 will respond instantly, whereas by the time the GT works up torque, the incident has passed by, and by then the T3 is long gone and on it's way ...
