OK Mate, I have put this together from the same retailer. FHRX Studios is a guy in the eastern states who builds awesome systems and is a distributor of some quality gear.

Monoblock

Crossfire VR1000D (1 x 1000 watts @ 1 ohms) $881 (RRP$979)

or

Vibe Monobox MB3 (1 x 400 @ 4ohm / 1 x 600 @ 2ohm) $741 (RRP$824)

Subs

Image Dynamics ID12V.3 12" Subwoofer $349

or

Crossfire BMF1228 12" Sub 375W RMS $369

or

Digital Designs DD2012 600W RMS $299

Coaxials

Phoenix Gold 5x7 R57.0 $229

or

Oz Audio 5x7 V5X7x3 $229

or

Focal 570CV1 5x7 $259

All of that is quality gear.

If it was me, I'd get the Vibe amp, Image Dynamic subs (2ohm) and 2 sets of Focal speakers.

I can vouch for Vibe... I bought a little 2x75WRMS one about 5 years ago ('cause it was pretty cheap), and thought it was just a junker. Well 5 years on and having received an unholy caning its whole life, it's still going strong, and has never missed a beat (Ha! no pun intended).

I don't know what Vibe are like these days, but for a brand I'd never heard of, it's done me proud.

My brother had Image Dynamics 6" splits in his TX3 Turbo (weapon of a car, but that's another story). they are great sounding and well-built too.

Steve... reminds me of when I used to stuff around making boxes... lol. although I had a table saw and router atleast..

You really should find out your volume as a priority. Then go shopping for some doofs that suit the enclosure, not your price point..

I for example have 2x 12" Orion NTense sube. BIG ass mofos.. They were hooked to an ORION HCCA225 ( 2x25 Watt rms ) amp @ 1 OHM MONO.

They absoulutly kicked ar$e. ( till the amp got nicked.. ) They also cranked out Metal like no other sub, and deep bass was amazing, doof doof however was less inspiring as there midrange was very lacking..

But, the volume needed for them to work at there best was about 4/5ths the size of my boot in a ported enclosure!!!!!! Dropping the box size choked the sub and was a waste of effort. They popped and couldn't handle the power from the amp..

Sealed, as you have makes it better for packaging, but the sound is very different, and the volume is down.. Punchier, and less rollon.. I like that sound though.. more natural.

If you find some doofs that need a bigger enclosure than you have, fill the box with Dacron to increase the internal size.. I think you can add ~20% volume by doing this..

Make sure you listen to your subs before buying them from a screen too..

anyhoo.. Good luck..

Maybe find some JL's or as mentioned some ID stuff to suit the smaller enclosure..

I can defo vouch for the crossfire gear, my last system was all crossfire gear apart from a Pioneer dvd touchscreen as the source..

Sure its not the best of the best but its also very well priced and the amps are somewhat underrated according to a fair few reviews and I doubt I could have got the same bang for the buck with another brand - 151db for approx $4500 + install.. No caps, standard battery and alternator, all BMF amps and P1 series subs and splits..

Thanks for the info

I have figured out the enclosures are just under 30L each, and I think the subs I have been looking at require a bit more (about 40L) so I'm still not sure. They are a great price... but it would still be a waste if they sounded crap.

The RF ones are much closer to my enclosure size and if they are a reasonable price I might get them. I do need to find somewhere to have a listen to them though. So adding dacron to the inside of the box increases the volume?? How does that work? That might be a solution to tune the box for me...

Dang, that's like 10 years ago I stuffed with that..

I think the way it alters the resonant freq's and all that garb... Changes the wavelength...... time vs distance or summin?? bit like pointing the speakers @ the rear of the car makes them 'louder'... all got to do with wavelength.. The longer the wavelength, the louder it is. You can also 'tune' the sound with filling..

You can also line the inside with tar based goop, even that soundstop matting stuff.. .. Making the walls as thick & dense as possible is a good thing. My box was 700mm x 1100mm on the face, ported enclosure and 19mm MDF ( I went against 25mm reccomendation as I was a tightass, and payed for it.. ).. The face of the box would flex ~10mm, and the fuel tank vibrated against the floor of the car.. I actually had to sikaflex my bumbers/numberplates and all the plastic trim on around the car.. ahh the memories..

Put as much dense material on the wall of the box as possible to stop this kinda stuff happening.. 'bad vibrations' so to speak..

If you ever pick up a nightclub bass speaker, check out how much those f@krs weigh.. Thick walls, filled with tar inside..

Take your own music too.... nothing worse than hearing a piece of music which makes the spkrs sound good, but don't suit your own music..

I woulda gone 3 X JL 10's :pinch: but that's me..
