Looks good..

I planing to do the same thing.

I have a 05 BA mk2 UTE.

I'm thinking of 2x Clarion pro audio 6x9. (as I already have them)

With kicker 100 watt x2 channel amp for them(have already too)

Then a sub or maybe 2 behind centre console running it's own sub amp.

Also thinking of sound proofing the rear of cabin.

for road noise and deep bass repose.

The box will be from end of cabin to end of cabin. With section cut out so I can still put the jack and sh*t away.

Now all I need now is to start the cabinet.

It will obviously slow me down but the doof doof will be cool.

I'm so a wog at heart, just not by birth.

Will post pics as I go.

was thinkin with your box being a little small you could just mount the subs the wrong way around, with the cone facing into the box.. not only does this save you loosing 2L of space from your box from the magnet, but adds 1+L because of the shape of the cone..

just a thought

One thing though you need to remember.

Every Sub has exact Volume of air it needs in a box.

The closer you get this to what it's supposed to be the better.

The amount required should come with the SUB if it's a good one

and will vary depending on if you going sealed or ported.

I have done heaps of installs and it really does make a difference.

It will also stop that fluttering sound. Let the turbo do that.

Also I recommend a Freq filter for the SUB. This will make the input to the SUB

remove all freq of sound not in the right range. Stopping The SUB becoming another speaker if you dont have full on EQ/ADJ.

They are a quick and cheap way of getting more bang for your buck.

I know what you mean mate..

when I made the box for mine, we forgot to factor in the room the subs take in the box, so one sub is the conventional way, the other has the magnet on the outside.. this sort of setup eliminates even order distortion as well, not sure how much of a factor that is though..!

my mono amp has an adjustable crossover so only the <100hz frequencies get through, pretty sure most amps have these.

dose it matter if you reverse mount subs? dose the volume need to be changed?

Also if paradoxx can/have/are you going to put the mesurments for you sub box up? BTW it looks really really good so far... very clean cut... are you going to get the same carpet for the box or what are you going to do to the exposed wood?

sorry I didn't see this earlier mate, but no it doesn't matter if you reverse mount subs. if you have it like me and one each way, you will need to wire one up backwards. eg the one with the magnet outside of the box has the +ve wire from the amp going into the -ve terminal and vice versa. that is so that when one sub is pushing the other is pulling and the air is being compressed in the box.

If you are running a sealed box and need more box volume. Here's a little trick for you.

Stuff the chamber with dacron. Stuff as much as you can in there. By doing this you will add about 10% volume to the chamber. Please ensure that you have a partition that seperates each sub. Otherwise you will run into frequency cancellation problems.

The volume of sealed boxes are not as critical as ported ones. The smaller the chamber the higher the SPL (louder and Boomier) and needs higher input power.

Wow here's a blast from the past.... cant believe this post is a sticky!

So as an update, I no longer have the XR, and I had to put the gear out on the roadside (all the wood bits)... a bit disappointing but that's the way it goes. Someone did claim the sub box though (I never actually finished it, but someone would just have needed to seal it nice n tight).

I still have the DVD player and custom plastic mount if anyone wants to buy it? PM me if your interested :)

Steve
