its pretty easy doc.

basically you want the cap wound out as far as possible without the valve opening unnecessarily.

to set the spring tension wind the cap outwards a turn at a time, giving the engine a good rev (with the trans in neutral) untill the engine idle speed dips when you back off the throtle, then turn it the other way (tighter) half a turn.

road test to make sure it doesnt want to stall,if it does give another half turn tighter.

At the chance of sounding lazy/ignorante but are the kompact BOVs a direct

swap for the stock ones fitting wise?

Or do you have to, like all other BOVs, have to plumb it in with an adaptor?

I have the Kompact series Turbosmart Plumback BOV and it is a direct replacement. No Adaptors needed. (it is the 25mm model).

The reason why I bought it, it has a bigger internal valve (still vents through a 25mm opening and I wanted more confidence that the standard BOV isnt leaking any boost. Its also made of metal and Im sure Turbosmart built it pretty well. Sort of like making sure my XR6T eats all its vegetables...

BUT..... I checked the instructions and the boost side and the exhaust side of the BOV are opposite to the standard Bosch BOV. I would advise anyone who simply installs it the same way the BOSCH unit works to check which way it vents as it works in the opposite manner..

The Vaccum line fits in it aganst the boost side. (Per attached)

that's awesome!!

I was looking to replace the standard BOV and being that easy

to fit I'm all over it. Who's the best to get one through?

I run a turbosmart dual kompact and have the spring wound to hard, when I first had it the spring was set of soft and the valve fluttered to much for my liking.

since I have wound the spring up to the hard setting it just sneezes but only at higher boost/rpm.

You dont wanna be putting boost in there and the XR6T leaks it out like a kid avoiding eating his peas and chucking them under the table on the floor...

Its my understanding though that under boost, soft or hard setting they wont leak boost. that's the reason why I bought it. There is much commentary in other threads/forums about if you leave it too soft it will leak boost.... Is that the same as if you pull a face and the wind changes argument or is it true...

In saying that is the stock BOV known to leak boost??
