Just got a reply from Turbosmart (even on a Sunday), Pic A is the current one, and comes with blanking plate for full plumb or full atmo. Sick.

I just bought one of these im pretty sure its right I just fitted it the same as the standard one but I dont like the sound of it, its very quiet and has sort of a duel noise when you back off it flutters for a bit then lets off a ptschhhh noise, adjusting it harder or softer just increases the length of the ptschhhh, does anyone elses sound like this?

yeah mate I've had my kompact bov for 12months and has always made both noises unless I back off early, the flutter does kinda cancel out the ptcschh noise which is a shame but either way I reckon it sounds tops

I have the one in Pic A (sorry for the delay) I get no flutter at all. I did initially (once it had settled in and loosened up) have an issue with the piston not closing entirely on idle. I changed the spring out to the "pink" spring and now theres no issue at all. I've never had any flutter however and the adjustment of the the BOV varies the length of the psssht.

Not a hint of flutter to be heard.

if you want more flutter and less 'pscht', you have two options:

1) change the spring for a stiffer spring.

2) add washers into the spring compartment of the bov.

I've done the 2nd option and works to add more 'hektik flutterz'...

not a big fan of the flutter, but its better than the thing venting at 1psi of boost... lol

off the top of my head, I used 2x m16 washers... that could be wrong though, my memory is really bad.

just take the spring out of the bov, go to bunnings and match up a washer which is a little bit smaller than the spring... get two of those and that should be fine.

I've just put a dual port kompact one on my FG, I like the pssshhht sound but wouldn't mind experimenting. To get the flutter you put in the washers they provide and set it really hard, is that right?

I think the size of the inlet (as they come in 3 sizes) will add to the flutter aswell but if you want flutter remove the bov altogether.

I just put the backing plate on my turbosmart kompact to make it a plumb back. much happier with the sound, just watch out when you take the trumpet off the inside of them is real sharp!

I put a dual port full atmo BOV on mine the other day, and as others have said I also get wooosh and flutter sounds at the same time, there isnt much difference in the loudness of the wooosh on soft or hard sttings, just the duration of the noise...

I have it set to the hardest setting, sounds like I have no blow off valve when on low boost (or on vacuum) fully sikk tututututututu, but when I give it full boost I get 3 or 4 loud flutters combined with a wooosh at the same time. Sounds similar to a stock vented BOV venting at full boost...

I have an FG.......

Would there be an advantage (one v other) 25mm or 34mm ?

I know the 25mm is a plug and run (no additional components), and I "think" the 34mm will require the piping kit as well ?
