Just wondering if anyone knows of a remote extender or of a better model lifter than the one I currently have.

I have a B&D with a Merlin motor attached that wont open until I'm at the very end of my driveway which is only about 5 metres from the door, meaning I have to wait until the door opens to pull the car in...

Would like to be able to push the remote button at the end of the street giving the door enough time to fully open so that I can just drive straight in....

Pretty petty I know but when its everyday it starts to get a bit tedious... :tease:

I also wired the remote to run off the battery (yes I know it's a 9V remote, but 12V works well) and wired in a little momentary switch to just underneath the tissue box holder and hid the remote in the fuse holder. Because you will find as your 9v battery drops voltage so will your range.

A little anal I know, but I hate WAITING!!!!

at least yours opens and shuts, I have a B&D and have had no end of trouble, 1st the thing would go all the way down to the bottom then open, result going to the coast for the day to return home and find door open! numerious calls to service dept went unheard, we now DO NOT DRIVE OFF UNTIL IT IS SHUT AND NOT GOING BACK UP!!!! 2nd. shoddy install by B&D subbie caused door to fall off the mounts when the wife opened it to go to work! dinting top of new 4x4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!......it also blew in at the bottom in a storm because it was fixed only into plaster!!!!!!!! service guy turned up and then bagged his fellow subbie and turns out he only fixed it into the plaster at top as well and not into any studs ect aparently they get payed fixed amount per install $80.00 at the time....3rd now on third motor in 8 years due to wear. the thing is so noisy when it goes up and down. we have thought of replacing with another brand. a mate and my father have other brands and have nothing but good reports.

Just bought a door for my new garage which is quite big (5.1m wide) and had all the big companies quote. I ended up going for a door from Glideroll which was the cheapest but the bloke seemed pretty knowledgeable.

No regrets so far!! Motor is extremely quiet and seems very well built and installed.

The control unit even has an output for an external light (as well as the one in it) and an output that I can connect to my alarm system as well.

Happy Camper!!! :spit:

Automatic Technologies Australia make a good roller door contoller that costs less than a B&D and will lift my 5m x 3m roller door from about 30m away.

Dont know if it can do the merlin motor though... :spit:
