... as I can assume the oil they use aint gonna be premium stuff that will cost 40 dollars to fill the motor up

Are there any Ford Tech's or guy and girls that actually know what is the standard oil being put in the T's at service. Does this change with diffrent dealers or is it across the board over Aus

Changes dealer to dealer as far as I've doscovered. Some use mobile semi synth, some castrol magnatec, others castrol edge for example.

On one of the couple times I rang FPV about oil, they said to trust whatever the dealers use "it'll be fine".

But yeah, change at 3,000km.

ok - well- maybe you dont have a sense of humour. So the serious answer...

You dont need to change at 3000. Some people think it better to run in a bit more - maybe 10,000. Do not use Synthetic oil until the 15,000 service. Synthetic oil will not allow as good a bed-in of components - and can lead to glazed bores etc.

Dump the oil and filter and go for semi - synthetic, then at 6000, full synthetic........

Are you now saying that Blonk hasnt got a clue cobrav8?

As a few other members mentioned I would do a change around every 7,500ks as I also believe the 15k mark ford set is way two far. I wouldnt worry to much bout doing it now but its up to you.

Feel free to bring her around at thr 7,500k mark and ill give you a hand to drop the oil.

And where have you been? Saw your car parked on President Ave today. A fair bit away from the office.

Will take you up on the offer soon. Im turning into a bit of a you and driving everywhere I can. We should tee up for a drive soon, since no one ever organises them anymore.

I am sure Blonk has plenty of clues.

I was saying that some people think... blah blah.

You feel free to decide what you want to do.

I just think most modern oils can survive a normal driving for more than 7500 kms. If you are driving hard (dragging or circuit racing) then I would do it more - but not just driving to work and back. I would change more if you do shorter trips often - that ends up contaminating the oil quicker.

Mines up for the 3000k "lookie feelie service" in a few weeks and Im going to ask them the change the oil/filter... not so much for the motors sake but for the turbo. Oil in a new enging at 3000ks will have metal in it as we know, and this is usually ok inside the engine, but I'm not too keen on running anything less than clean oil through the turbo
