I know I have a lot of "wasted" power for the 1/4 mile, but that is not what floats my boat.

My BEST 60 foot time of 2.4secs when I ran my 12.3 shows how appallingly slow 355rwkw's and Dunlop SP9000's mix...................if I could muster a 1.8 sec 60foot than 11's we come BUT, then I will end up bloody breaking something for sure and I don't want a trip home on a flatbed especially having more power now.

So, I will just be happy making an unuseable amount of power 'cause that is what makes me smile! :tease:

To see these times though in a manual is pretty darn good. Keep up the good work! :spoton:

Questions for u Rapid.

I'm not digging, :pooh::kissmy: or anything..

but....

At what point ( rpm or Km ) do you make 300rwkw?

When does your 355rwkw stop on your graph, and start on it's downward slope?

What is your 660' mph

What is your time from 660' to the finish?

I've seen Simon's graph, and it's pretty darn early.

Again, I'm not stirring, I spoke to Simon the day I ran and we have talked about theories to going quickly a fair bit.

My reasoning is that you are about the closest behind me, with Simon!!!

As I mentioned, just because you have 355rwkw, doesn't mean it's wasted per sae. It just means you shouldn't use ALL of it off the line.

Mate, I know you're not stirring.

It makes its power very early on, which I wouldn't change for quids. I love it all early and right through the rev range. The only problem was trying to get it off the line on the standard tyres at 29psi without a burnout...................

So, the 12.3 was probably a bloody good effort!

I know my power isn't wasted! :kissmy: and it has a bit more than that 355 now which is STILL not wasted! :spoton: I don't really know what to use it for except make myself smile.

I will take a photo (no scanner) of my clutch slipping 375rwkw graph. The power goes damn near straight up and just stays there. Absolutely sensational power band and perfect for the street.

Auto's run good times because they build boost and leave with hp onboard off the line, not because they change gears quicker..

I know that a couple of years back I had a race with Julian at WSID, he in an auto and me in the T56 (my first run ever). We both ran in street tyres. We left the start pretty much line ball, but as soon as I changed 1st to 2nd he pulled 2 car lengths, then I'd pulled a bit back, then lose distance at the next change etc

So either I need to work out how to shift a lot faster (maybe practice, or selecting different rev change point), or perhaps now the Edit does make a lot of difference at gear changes... or both.

It would be interesting to see you run against say an auto that does around the same time as you over the quarter, especially at gear change time.

Given that you have improved so much I'd say that:

1. your rate of acceleration is almost constant, whereas the rest of us are still droppping significantly between the gearchanges, and that means a difference of 4 to 6 car lenghts, compared to an auto over a 1/4.

2. obviously the launch technique and MTs (with around 1.8s 60 foot) help enormously.

Well done again.

Brian

I think it would be more interesting to see him run the quarter against an auto with the same/similar power curve on a dyno. Then you would be seeing only the difference between manual and auto (as we seem to be assuming that this is the best a manual can be stirred along).

He'll be getting that opportunity really soon :kissmy: A6 vs. M6. Should be interesting to see the results.

Cheers Brian..

you touch on some very important points..

1.) Rate of acceleration.

When I raced F6 ( I was on Street tyres, he on MT's) he got me on the launch.

He commented on the return lane he watched me in in his mirrors and he could not pull away from me. The gap remained constand fom 60' to end track.

2.) Launch Technique.

It's not just the drive, it's the fact I can launch and the car has alot of power down low. It can pull the ute up and out of the hole easily...

It's not that hard to execute from a driving perspective, but to get a tune to do what you want it to is another issue..

I saw his car on the dyno in the afternoon. From memory it was struggling to make over 280rwkw or there abouts. Some 20-30rwkw down from it's previous BPT Tune. Apparently there were some problems  Is that why Nick's coming back?

Can you get that much grunt down low??

Sure, it's easy. Simply set the turbo duty cycle to 100% and wha-la - you have instant low down grunt. Something I'm not an advocate of though.

Wouldn't recommend it on XR6 Turbo's either. Ask Nick, it causes engine failures.

If anyone wants to do me a tune, I'll drive it in the next season and see what they can muster with my driving ability.... ( if that's what got us there???? )

There will always be the iffs and butts.

The fact is, we ran an 11 second pass with injectors and exhaust mods with an actuator..... There's no denying the combined effort and result.

As the saying goes, Where there's a wog, there's a way..

I have the Xede controlling boost and I'lk show you on the lappy next time the duty cycles.

It's not 100%.

It's not locked

Have you considered what External Gates do to control boost?

Have you considered what ANY aftermarket boost controller does to control boost?

You can't re-invent the wheel, just make it a little less round maybe..
