I'm wondering what this means for other guys about the country running 100+ extra kw's??

Don't they have the MPH, just not the time? Just reading on the Nizpro website when they ran a best of 11.91 and their car was running consistently higher MPH (124MPH) but much slower 60 foot times, 2.0 out to 2.69...

I think that shows how much a good driver F6 is over the 1/4... goes to show you don't need all that power to get the time...

I'm not having a go either Nick... just noting with interest that all that power is going to waste somewhere...

It's all good mate!

11.8 is awesome F6, I'm wondering what this means for other guys about the country running 100+ extra kw's?? I think some manual HSV's would be getting pretty scared off the line now.

Drag racing, as I've pointed out numerous times in the past, is not a case of he with the most hp wins. After all, it's drag racing and there is an art to getting from the lights to tape quickly..

Victor Bray has years of experience, different clutch load points and torque setting for every track and atmospheric condition in Aus. His power probably doesn't change much, but the setup changes day to day.....

Ben Bray gets a head start on all of this and this is why he runs the numbers he does at such an early age.. He is tallented, but that's only half of it.

It's a combination of power, where that power is made, weight and getting all that effort to the ground. Simple formula, hard to execute.

Unfortunatly, guys get into that yankie mentallity of 'just add more power', and imo get caught up in the numbers game too easily.. I took a different tack.. I dropped some weight, added traction but I also make power where it counts.

I utilise 1000rpm from the line to half track. I make my most power and torque in the rpm range I operate the car in in that time...

The car holds power (but drops torque) after this point untill the chimes, where I hit the tape.

At NO stage throughout my run is the car making less than 300rwkw

Why make 350rwkw @ 6000rpm if your car never sees 6000rpm??

Why make 400kw for 100rpm when you can make 300kw for 3000rpm??

I said months ago 330rwkw would run an 11. turns out I was close..

When you get more power you have to change into 5th.

Gearing is the number 1 killer, the change to 5th is slow..

Youngy has big power- over 400rwkw+ and has the correct gearing. Expect some blistering numbers when he works out how to get it down. ( which he will ).

I suspect with his power and grip levels, he'll have some rear end dramas and maybe gearbox issues.. maybe..

I will take the gearing I have to it's limits. If I can pull 117mph on these tyres and 1.80 60's the time will be very good..

I was never really into drag racing, but I suppose I'm on a bit of a mission to proove a point now..

The point being?? I don't know, maybe that 300rwkw is plenty;

When it's made where it should be.

When applied correctly.

When it doesn't cost a fortune.

When it's actually 300rwkw for longer than a nanosecond..

As I mentioned, I wasn't even doing a big enough burnout to get heat into the tyres. Get the wog in my ear

I short shifted to 2nd and bogged down ( I was in street tyre mode) Gramps blew my head off and set me straight!!

The next pass 'we' ran an 11..

I would not have run that time without those little tips and I doubt the wog could pedal my car to an 11, and Gramps, well :fool: ............ A true team effort....

Jordak was out last night.. We helped him out a bit on technique, he ran his first 12!!!

This is why whenever you guys PM me asking for tips on good times, or tips on tunes, I give as much detailed information as possible.

It's no big secret, and I want guys to be running round like an idiot like I was last week and last night, because that's what we do this for..

Great job Nick with your tune but I think that car is a 12.5 car most peoples hand,,Ben u must be one HELL of a DRIVER 1.8  60 fotter CRAZY . Now go for the 11.5s top stuff  :spoton: BB

Strange concept.. I know what you mean, but I have driven many tunes in my ute.

What does this say about the 12.80's and 12.90's I was running with other guys tunes??

Are they mid 13second tunes and utter rubbish????

Pretty easy to lay blame to a bad drive or bad tune. At the end of the day, no-one is even close to this time with the level of modification this car has seen ( or not seen ) as the case may be..

Ever wondered how a 1.8 60' is possible?? Anyone can launch at 4500rpm on MT's
