G'day Paul,

So who is the Mackay performance shop you refer to? Sounds like a decent recommendation to me.

Some of us also have extended warranties that we're not too worried about invalidating :) Anywho I'm glad things worked out OK.

Hi

Jam Perfomance done all the work. Sorted all the warranty out for me also. Didnt have to do a thing. big thanks to them.

Paul

The extended warranty sounds interesting.

Is this through the Ford dealer, or where can I get one.  MY car is under lease but I intend to keep it fo 3 years more than the warranty.  I should be able to buy the ext warranty through the vehicle lease.  Saves a few dollars.

Hi

You can get a Ford Extended Warranty bit I got mine through Allianz. I think it ws $1360.00 which is for 3 years or up to 160,000kms. Bought it over the phone through Sunshine Ford in Southport QLD.

Yes through the ford dealer, I just purchased mine the other day.

adds another 3 years or 160,00 km's whichever comes first.

but you MUST purchase it before your current warranty expires, otherwise they will not sell it.

I paid $1600 for mine (BA XR6T UTE 2004)

Well worth it!!

Oil line jammed up with carbon deposits and 15000km oil changes - are these related?

Dingah

I would not be surprised if they were. 15000km sounds just too much especially if the car is driven around town with a lot of cold starts and stop & go situations.

yeah built2redline I service my car between 5000 and 7500km with castrol edge full synthetic..

Just incase your not aware the castrol edge range of oils are not really '100% synthetic oils' as its derived from a grp III base stock. A group III base stock is not a man made 'synthetic'.

A couple of oils that are 'real' synthetics are Mobil and Motul. Then there's the boutique redline, royal purple, amsoil etc...

Its quite dissapointing some of the oil company's are able to get away with ripping off the public.

Explains what I am talking about in detail.

Hi all

Wife drove around the shops. Parked the car in the shed. Sat there for 3 days. Went to kick it over and the turbo was making a weired noise. Turned the car off straight away and you could here the turbo spooling down.

Rang local Ford dealer told him that it ran out of warranty but I have the extended warranty (not through Ford). Didn't really want to no about it. Thought stuff you.

Spoke to a performance shop here in Mackay. told him the story. He organized a tow truck to pick the car from home. 2.00pm he rang and said looks like the turbo was stuffed without pulling it apart. His words " give me a contact name and number for your extended warranty and I will sort it out". Big thanks to him.

3.00pm he rang again. Car will be fixed under warranty including all parts (rebuilding the turbo) and labour. Couldnt not have been happier. Best $1360.00 I could have spent on the extended warranty. (Please note my car is stock in the engine department)

Going to pick the car up tomorrow so I will let you all know what happened and how its going.

Cheers

Paul
